Grab your board, paddle out and relax
- 11Blackhead BeachBlackheadKnown for its barreling left-handers, you can expect a decent crowd out Blackhead when its firing. Failing that, the beach is dog friendly too - ideal for letting the pooch have a run around.
- 22Allans BeachPortobelloOver a few fences, down a couple of sand dunes and hidden away in the corner of Allans Beach is arguably Dunedin’s best right-hand break. The Cove as its known, produces a slabby right-hander that’ll either leave you in tears or with the biggest grin you’ve ever had.
- 33Aramoana BeachAramoanaPopulated by a few locals, seals and the occasional penguin, Aramoana’s about as remote as it gets in Dunedin. Be sure to check it out at low tide when there’s a decent Northerly swell - they’ll be plenty of waves to be had.
