Situated right across from the beautiful Knox Church on George Street, Governor's Cafe is arguably one of Dunedin's hidden culinary treasures.

The cafe has a traditional student vibe feel - perfect for enjoying the afternoon sun with a cup of coffee, while you pour over your notes.

Their menu has recently seen a bit of a revamp too, incorporating fresher ingredients and a vegetarian menu designed by a real life vegetarian (so you know it's good!).

The cafe usually fills up pretty quick, so if you're after a lazy afternoon brunch phone ahead - although walkins are always welcome.

Go for the food and coffee, stay for the amazing napkin art. There are all sorts of things scribbled on to napkins and plastered (tastefully) on the walls of Governor's Cafe. This place is a popular hangout for students and locals.

Some of the best service in town, coupled with excellent food! The mixed grill has saved me on many a Sunday.
