"The Golden Dawn is one of my favourite places to catch up with friends for a casual meal and a drink. The food is delicious and are shared plates and there is a great selection of beer and cider on tap. Inside the atmosphere is warm and intimate for smaller groups and outside there are large tables for more substantial gatherings. The staff are friendly and there is always good music playing."
"I think I saw my favourite show in Auckland here - twas a summery eve and Connan Mockasin played out in the courtyard - oh wowee. A cat walk on a line of tables that was organised, a stellar rendition of ‘Remember the Time’ by Michael Jackson, topped with a bunch of friendly, eager faces made this night rocket to the top of the list. Their weekly diverse shows are worth checking out."
498 New North Road, Kingsland, Auckland 1021
"This place is great if you want somewhere casual to go for an affordable beer and a burger. They do really good chips with aioli which I like to pair with a Mac’s cider! Big outdoor space to sit in or if it’s cold out, the inside is always toasty warm! Big food for a big appetitie at this one!"
"If you’re looking for a spot to enjoy a few lazy beers in Kingsland, I would recommend Neighbourhood Brewbar. There is a large courtyard in the front and the back windows let in a generous smattering of sunlight. The music is laidback, the beer cold and the fit out spacious. Great White is my choice of what they have on tap, but I guess that all comes down to personal preference."

"I ended up here on a sunny Sunday avo meeting some friends for a drink to debrief about the night before’s antics. Some DJs (Team Navajo) were playing tunes…there was a cruise liner parked up a stones throw from where we were sitting..cheap bloody mary’s …it was just good vibes."
"Tyler Street Garage has arguably the best rooftop terrace in the central city. Small but perfectly formed, with lots of cushy seating, a handy bar and stunning views over the docks. Love coming here on sunny afternoons for a slice of pizza and a crisp glass of white."
7 Sale Street, Freemans Bay, Auckland 1010
"I must admit I was a little surprised how good their pizza is. Sitting outside & watching Rugby while enjoying this great pizza with a really good spicy sauce is bonus."

"Weekend nights can get a bit nuts at Snapdragon, but swing by on a weeknight or afternoon and it's a classy, chilled place to hang out - not always easy to find in the Viaduct! Take your pick of the outdoor seating or cosy couches inside and settle in. Also, they do curly fries!"

"The deck, the spacious indoors and the lively busy atmosphere. Plus great staff who really know their stuff!"

"One of my personal favorites! A great list of wine and beers on tap as well as offering a number of tasty meals from the kitchen, including pizza! For me if I’m just catching up with a friend or looking for a night out i always consider wrestling with the Elephant."
" This is a great place to get together with friends on a Saturday night, they have dancing inside and a nice patio for outside and even half of the patio is covered which is so great!!!! and its also no too loud outside so you can still have a conversation with friends and actually hear them! Great Place:)"
2 Mount Eden Road, Grafton, Auckland 1023
"After living in London I finally understood why the English love their pubs so much. This place really is like a proper English pub. They even brew their own beer!"
"Glabraiths does a spectacular pub dinner. The lamb curry is delicious and the fries, thin cut with the potato skin still on, are so good my partner and I have been talking about them since we ate here. The building is historic and full of character, and the staff were all very friendly. Will definitely be going back."

"Kings Arms is hands down my favorite live music venue in Auckland! They always have great bands, there's always a sweet mosh pit/dance floor going on, and the outdoor area out back is great to chill out in and have a smoke (if that's what you're in to). Also - The bar staff always seem to have a great sense of humor - which I tend to notice most when they're run off their feet trying to serve handfuls of people at the same time! "
"In my opinion the best place to watch live music in Auckland. Depending on the band, you might need to get in quick for tickets - the place hosts some big international acts that would normally play in venues 3 or 4 times the size. Mark the sound engineer knows the room like he knows his mother - well - so you’re ears are treated. Don’t be fooled by the seedy old men out front of the sports bar side of this place, they’re friendly."
