People who take the time to roast their own beans just do coffee better, and this place is no exception.

Another unassuming spot, serving up exceptional coffee. They also have sweets from The Caker and a small selection of fresh salads.

This is my favourite cafe. The meals are huge and $15 or less, the coffee is fantastic, and the courtyard in the back is cosy and bright.

Shaky Isles has a hipster vibe, cute baristas, and fabulous coffee. The flat whites are good, the iced mocha is a real treat, and the food is best in the biz if you’re looking for breakfast to go with your coffee. And they have free Wi-Fi!

Roasted Addiqtion is a long-time fave of mine. I love the comfy couches and the relaxed atmosphere. The food is fantastic and the coffee is always yum, but I usually go for a pot of tea – they have a great selection of loose leaf tea, and they give you the pot along with a timer so you know how long to let it steep before pouring a cup.

Simply Delicious is tied for my favourite flat white in Auckland. Always perfect, the baristas know what they’re doing and are quick about it. It’s great for to-go coffee, and they have a cute outdoor seating area if you feel like sitting or having breakfast, but drinks are definitely their strong suit.

I love how tucked away and secret Fred’s Cafe feels. It’s small, with as much outside seating as inside seating and is all brick and leafy things and charm. The coffee is consistently great, and the treats are also amazing – a bit expensive, but worth it.

Cosset Cafe is delightful! Every time I go in there they have a new exhibition up on the walls from a local artist. They coffee is consistently great. And the food is all vegetarian and vegan! What more could a girl ask for? :D

I love Shaky Isles. It's easily one of the best cafes in Auckland - if not the whole country. The food is consistently delicious and flavorful and exciting! The coffee is always great. The staff are super friendly and fun. And the space is a great place to either chill and hang with your friends or take your laptop and do some work for an hour - plus they have FREE wifi! 

Atomic does the best flat white in Auckland, the staff are always super friendly, and the food is always SUPER TASTY!! They recently started a proper cooked menu and the vegetarian baked eggs are so freaking good. 

This is the banana smoothie from Crave Cafe in Morningside, and it is delicious!!! …the magic slice from this place is also amazing!!

There is so much light in this cafe! It has great vibes for constructive conversation - the space is very versatile, so great for gathers of 2 to 8 people!

Alleluya is a great space for creative meetings. I always feel inspired sitting in the old arcade surrounded by greenery with great brews!

Atomic has lots of space. The large table in the centre makes this a good spot for meetings of different sizes. Lovely outdoor seating. The coffee here is hard to top.

Cosset is great for meetings for two. They have lots of cute intimate spaces in this wee adorable cafe. Not to mention their excellent coffee.

Amazing courtyard right in the heart of the city. Great place to meet up for those who work walking distance from the CBD. Amazing menu and lovely staff.

Hands down - the superior purveyors of flat whites, espressos and cappuccinos in Auckland. Their baristas are artists who serve it perfect every time.

Morning mission out to the beach? Go pick a cuppa up from the cafe - you’ll be suprised at how delicious it is.

Eight Thirty are definitely one of my favourite bean brands, and these turkeys know how to make bean into beverage. Top notch cuppa.

Ponsonby Central provides a sea of food heavens, and as a customer it can be overwhelming, not knowing which way to turn and what to try first. So naturally it would be difficult for a cafe stand above the rest, but Foxtrot Parlour manages to. The space is comfortable and relaxed, as are the people. You're bound to leave with a satisfied food baby in your belly.

A cozy cafe with a conscience. Espresso Coffee School on Swanson St is the place you find solace on a rainy Monday morning, when all you need is a bloody good coffee to get you through the day. They run under gift economy (you decide how much you pay) and care more for quality over profit. For those that are regulars, it's Auckland's best kept secret.

Plenty of cafes like to say their coffee is the best in town, Atomic Coffee Roasters put their competitors claims to rest. With consistently high standard coffee, you will find yourself turning into a coffee snob that can't drink less than the best.

Go to this cafe with a big appetite to truly appreciate the front cabinet and menu packed full of delicious food. The courtyard area is a great place for a catch up with friends or a treat outing for the family. The art decor is warm and you will want to stay and soak up atmosphere even after your meal is long gone.

Found in a quiet industrial corner of Morningside, this community run business makes you feel among friends. It ticks all the boxes in terms of coffee, food and service and profitable gain goes towards Auckland charity MAD For Change. Their ethos encourages that neighbourly attitude that seems to have been forgotten in modern life.

Eight Thirty is dedicated to doing coffee well. Great coffee and a concise offering of goods from Cool Food as well as the divine cakes from The Caker. All in a sparse but warm brick interior in a sunny spot on K’Rd.

Three Beans is the new kid on the block, a fine addition to the Sheds at City Works Depot. Sit at the big communal table indoors, positioned to catch the morning sun, and enjoy a coffee and one of the delicious scones.

Espresso Workshop prides itself on it’s baristas making the perfect coffee. My takeaway lived up to the hype, perfectly thick, creamy milk and a more ish coffee flavour with no hint of bitterness.

  The Grassy Knoll is a small yet perfectly formed cafe on Shortland Street and has been providing locals with excellent Supreme coffee Monday through Friday. My first visit coincided with their first birthday celebrations so along with my coffee came some delicious, freshly made Russian fudge. There are plentiful sandwiches on offer, smoothies, healthy salads and some great looking hot dishes such as Jungle Chicken Soup. I will definitely be popping in again when I am next in that neck of the woods.

  I have been stopping in to this tiny cafe for takeaway coffee regularly when I am in the city. The brew is Allpress and MacGregor Brothers make a fine flat white. The counter is packed with divine looking baking of the sweet and savoury variety which disappears quickly so you need to be in early to sample the delights.

All you need to know is that Little and Friday have the BEST cream doughnuts 

Bought these beauties from L&F to take as a gift to my hairdresser. He shared them around with his staff, wow you have never seen a bunch of adults behave like seagulls – YUM!

Oh my, these cupcakes are so so good. I really love how they have so many flavours on offer as well. 

Pastries and coffee, this cute little cafe on Jervois Rd takes me back to the streets of Paris. 

My first time to this cafe today and it was absolutely bustling. Clearly I am one of the last people to know about this place. It wont be the last time I visit this place. The food was sensational

This cute little spot in Herne Bay has some amazing food and drink. I was blown away by their fresh mint tea with honey and the to-die-for croque madame. There’s also lots of delish dutch baked goods for morning tea.

I absolutely love this place. Amazing views over Waiheke’s Oneroa Beach, creative and delicious brunch options, perfect macarons (my fave), and a yummy rhubarb shake to finish things off equals perfection.

This is the second time this café has made it onto one of my lists - I just couldn’t have a best cafés list and not mention my favourite one. Amazing, freshly made pies and salads, delicious pastries and expertly crafted cakes plus a warm and homey environment.

I’m not much of a coffee-drinker myself, but I’ve been told on numerous occasions that Coffee Supreme has the best in town. I personally love it for its quirky decor, including ceiling high stacks of old National Geographic magazines, free Wi-Fi, friendly staff and heavenly hot chocolate.

The smell of delicious home-baked bread wafts through the doors, enticing you from a mile away. A cool location with a view of Maungawhau out the front windows and some truly tasty European treats. The open kitchen gives you a peak at Olaf, the German baker, hard at work and makes you feel like you’re in a friend’s living room.
