"Visit Auckland Art Gallery this summer and experience our largest overview of contemporary New Zealand art for 25 years. See the work of emerging artists alongside some of the country’s most established practitioners and discover how these artists are engaging with ideas of utopia, sustainability and artistic freedom. Freedom Farmers demonstrates the way these creative thinkers act as innovators and leaders in New Zealand – a country whose culture values invention, forward-thinking and liberty. The exhibition includes a wide range of artwork from painting to installation, sculpture, digital art, ceramics, film and photography. View installations by et al., Dan Arps, Mladen Bizumic and Xin Cheng; photography by Ava Seymour, Edith Amituanai, Wayne Barrar and Allan McDonald; sculpture by Francis Upritchard; and paintings by Stella Corkery. Watch films by Steve Carr and Louise Menzies, and see ceramics by Isobel Thom and Tessa Laird. Enter Freedom Farmers to find these and many more artworks, and join us in a compelling conversation about New Zealand now and about how we shape its future. 26 October 2013 – 23 February 2014 Level 1 exhibition spaces – free entry Principal Partner: The Chartwell Trust Exhibition Partner: Contemporary Benefactors"

"Vibrant food, vigorous spices and tantalizing tastes culminate in plethora of platters with the freshest seafood thrown in for good measure. The intimacy of the wine and drinks list allow your senses to be captivated by food alone."
"There’s a reason this place is always jam packed. Chef Al Brown’s attention to detail and emphasis on good customer service makes Depot an all round great experience. They don’t do reservations but you can put your name on a waiting list. The staff have always been lovely and food is delicious. Highly reccomend the turbot sliders, fig toasties and sugar pie."
"The boyfriend and I come here so often that we have our Depot strategy sorted - a couple of freshly-shucked oysters each, followed by a couple of small plates (sliders usually feature), one large plate and a side of potato skins, all washed down with a carafe of their tap wine. Get in early or be prepared to wait, but know that it’s totally worth it!"

"Sal’s pizza is consistently delicious store to store, but Commerce St was the first and the best. The pizza is delicious of course, but the pepperoni wheels are what I keep coming back for. They are seriously incredible and talking about them is making me hungry. The garlic knots are also notable, and very affordable. If you somehow haven’t ever eaten at Sal’s, I recommend rectifying that asap."
"I don’t think there is a place where you can order a pizza quite as large and authentic as the american style ones they do at Sals. This place really is the american pizza experience, they even had a guy with an american accent take my order over the phone."

"Best gelato maker in town! I had cocoa sorbet and caramel popcorn. Both divine and presented like a work of art."
"A crazy crazy place. Be prepared for an icecream with fluffy sugary bits of fluff attached and a flavour like Colin Mathura-Jeffree. The waffles are made on site, are lined with chocolate, and with a solid chocolate bottom."

"I ended up here on a sunny Sunday avo meeting some friends for a drink to debrief about the night before’s antics. Some DJs (Team Navajo) were playing tunes…there was a cruise liner parked up a stones throw from where we were sitting..cheap bloody mary’s …it was just good vibes."

"So much fun here with a group. High energy waiters, great food and awesome atmosphere. Only draw back, so busy it can be hard to hear anything!!"
"Oh Gina’s. Just thinking about this place makes my mouth water! My dad is Italian, so I like to think I know good Italian food when I taste it. Gina’s is one of my favourite restaurants in Auckland. It’s warm and welcoming with truly delicious food that tastes like it was cooked in your grandma’s kitchen. More than the food though, the experience is worth the trip. You’ll really feel like you’re in Italy!"

"Weekend nights can get a bit nuts at Snapdragon, but swing by on a weeknight or afternoon and it's a classy, chilled place to hang out - not always easy to find in the Viaduct! Take your pick of the outdoor seating or cosy couches inside and settle in. Also, they do curly fries!"
