We went back to Troy as its now one of our favourite Mediterranean restaurants. The food is simply superb and the ambience makes it a perfect place for a lovely night out. I ordered the fish which came with saffron rice, that tasted so delicious.

I truly had the most amazing experience dining at Troy. Right from entrées  to mains everything was just perfect. Highly recommended.

The whole family went to Troy Restaurant and enjoyed ourselves very much. We all ordered a range of entrée's and mains. The food tasted very delicious and service too was excellent. As we went on a Friday, we were entertained by a beautiful belly dancer that made the ambience very lively. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to try authentic Persian food.

I do like the atmosphere and surroundings of this place, even though there had been quite a few changes & renovations since last time. We booked and again I was surprised how busy it was on a Sunday night.  I had a voucher for a 5 course banquet for two people for $39.00.  Great value but I have to say this time the taste was lacking.   We got a platter with small dish of humus, Turkish dip, 2 vine leaves & 2 other things plus lots of yummy bread, a small bowl of king prawns in a creamy sauce.  Really tasty. (This was 2 courses apparently). Then we got a very nice steak with veges- to share (lovely & well cooked but again the sauce was very bland.. and no salt & pepper on the table.  We also  got the Sultans salad-   this was very tasty. And finally a small bowl of chicken & mushroom fettucine.- Bland and the sauce was more a soup sadly but overall hot & pleasant For the cost this was a good meal however the flavour needs to be improved substantially from bland and the fettuccine sauce should not be a soup. Far too thin which resulted in mess. I like Troy and I like the staff and atmosphere however on this night it was mediocre in flavour.  I expect better tastes next time. Also the person taking our payment really needs to use deodorant.  The smell was extremely strong and unpleasant.  Not the best front for a restaurant. T

My partner and I had a wonderful night out for Dinner. We brought vouchers for a cheap meal deal and definitely got the better end of the bargain. The food was amazing and desert topped it off :) For a added bonus, we were provided with some in house entertainment - A Belly Dancer. It was definitely a very different experience.  Wish I knew before we went that it was BYO and I would have taken advantage of that as well.

Didn't try their Italian but the Turkish is the closest thing we have tasted to actual Turkish food outside of Turkey. Only shame is its a bit pricey, so cannot make it a regular.

Although the service is something to be worked on the range on the menu makes up for it. It’s a place with a twist of difference on the menu.

Thanks to Groupy we had a voucher for a cocktail, entree, wine & main meal here.  So I booked a table (pays to book as Saturday night was fully booked out).  Parking was actually not too bad right across the road.  Suprising for a Friday night in Ponsonby. Up the stairs and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised.  A huge open room with gorgeous cathedral type wooden ceiling ( worth a look up) and drapsed in a meditterranean feel (having been to Italy and Turkey I can say it  was kind of a mix of both). Interesting! The greeting by staff was excellent. They were well presented in all black with a splash of colour at the waist with Turkish style wrap. Really cute I thought. We were shown to our seat, sadly in the middle of the room when a few round the outside more private ones were free (but we decided not to ask to move).  The tables were strangely arranged as I kept getting the back of my chair bumped by the waiters (who didnt seem to notice it annoyed me) then by passing guests.  I moved the table to a better angle ( 3rd attempt worked). The cocktail option was a strawberry dacquirie or pina colada.  Just what I felt like.  Not huge but a nice apéritif. Then we chose prawns & calamari to start.  Small dishes but perfect and very tasty.  The calamari was best I'd had in a while.  Then we had the paradise chicken and the Trojen special. Our glass of house red ( we chose the shiraz) arrived once I reminded them and was fine.  Excellent meals.  Huge and very, very tasty. We were exhausted so didn't stay on the belly dancer sadly but will be back.  Overall a great experience.

Have been to Troy a few times,  usually with groups,  they seem to be a common choice for group things .       This time however the group was far more intimate,  myself , my wife and our 1 year old .   The layout has changed and is quite nice and themed,  its walking a fine line between being tacky and authentic looking - but it seems to come out on the right side of the line. The menu appears to have changed,  from memory they had a vast array of turkish, italian and "NZ"  which they still do to a certain extent,  but massively cut down - which is not a bad thing.        The server was friendly although took entree, main , dessert and drink orders each one after the previous was completed which is a little odd.   The place had a good atmosphere being about 70% full but even so the food came out pretty quickly,  portions were big which equals good to me and the prices reasonable.     Despite trying still to be lots of things,  they still have the Turkish bent so mid evening the belly dancer appears to entertain/taunt people depending on your perspective and participation.       My wife likes this a lot,    I personally don't get it myself or her enthusiasm for it,  I show her my belly all the time and shes very unimpressed.      In this case the performers "belly" was a little small and unimpressive.   I resisted the urge to whip out my own and say you call that a belly ,  this is a belly  -   but I resisted.  So overall  a good fun meal,    they were kind to our daughter (and not being so is an instant 1 star)  and friendly overall.      Will go back at some point I am sure.
