The Library Cafe

I went to Onehunga for a spot of shopping at Dress Smart recently and to meet a friend for lunch.  She suggested The Library.  I wondered why on earth we would meet there.   Then I arrived and saw it was a cafe and wow what a great place.  I never knew it was here and can only say I wish I had when my kids were younger. They have a great outdoor play area which is fully fenced so you can relax and enjoy while the kids play safely.  Its so hard to find great settings like this to meet friends when your kids are small. We had a lovely lunch. I had the BLT club sammy ( $18.50 so not a cheap meal but well worth it).  My friend had an omelette which  looked great.  The coffee was good too.  There's two distinct areas inside and out.  But the most distinctive thing is the feel of the place.  Its has a wonderful feel.  They also do Sunday dinners, weddings  and cater events. I highly recommend this place for parents with small children meeting up or friends wanting a nice lunch together in a unique environment. 

We go all the way across town for their allergy friendly meals. If you have allergies, going to a restaurant is usually a nerve wrecking experience. But at the Library Cafe they know their stuff and they go out of their way to make your meal safe and enjoyable. They also have a wonderful play area for the children, more room to play outside and an actual library in the other room. If The Library opened a branch in West Auckland we'd go more often. What am I saying, we'd probably move in.

I love this building. The big tables give this cafe a really nice feel. One of the classier cafes in Onehunga.

Beautiful old building with a balcony facing north with a view. Friendly service and good coffee. They even have chess and scrabble available…Child friendly too.
