Pretty good fish & chups on the beach in the sunset with a wine in a mug

Went there yesterday with a mate and loved what we were served up. I ordered the Snapper special and my mate the manager's special. The fish is fresh and the batter crispy. The chips were done great too. Was happy to see a good serving of greens too! The only qualm would be that they don't have much of range of beer brands. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our feed.

Quite a queue and a bit crowded but amazing fish and chips, good selection of condiments. The staff dont seem to happy to be there sometimes but the place is clean and the oil is fresh. good portion size  well worth it.

When we first moved to New Zealand my dad was unemployed for two years. We didn't have a heck a lot of money so my dad had to be creative about family dinners. One of our favourite tricks was to have Fish Pot Cafe fish and chips for about $15 and take it out to Mission Bay to eat it at the park. That tradition hasn't changed, and every summer I try to do this at least once. Still a great deal after 20 years!

The Fish Pot Cafe is one of the only reasons I go to Mission Bay. Nothing beats lying on the grass (or sand!) with a mound of piping hot fish and chips! Definitely worth the wait and the queue is never as bad as it looks. These guys are fast.
