At first I wasn’t aware of what a following this place has, or the fact that it’s part of a chain... I just thought is was a cool random little sushi place with great donburi, a funny ill-suited name and really nice mochi. The sushi here is great - I can’t say they are the very best on K road (Fusion sushi just down the road is something special), but still great if you want to quickly pick up something tasty pre-packed at a decent price. They have a nice sitting area are the back of the store with comfy cushions in case you want to eat there.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve found that Auckland sushi shops can be really hit and miss. One day it’s amazing, the next you have food poisoning. Not so with St Pierre’s. Always stuffed full of filling, always tasty and a huge variety. Bonus points for having really good sashimi at a good price. And if they’re out of your favourite they will make it while you wait.
While it doesn't have the most Japanese of names, St Pierre's really delivers with their product. Great fresh sushi at any time of the day and custom rolls can also be made on request, which is great for us fussy vegetarians ;-) I have picked up many lunches from St Pierre's and have yet to be disappointed.
