Shed 5 has had a dramatic upgrade since my last review so I felt I needed to do it justice with an updated review. They have decreased the floor space but increased the menu to include some very moreish options. I have been visiting regularly and alternating between the Haloumi Salad with greens, hummus and roasted capsicum and the excellent European Breakfast with boiled egg, avocado, salmon(proscuitto option available), wholegrain bread and melon balls. The coffee is excellent and there is now a bar that is open on a Friday night. The sheltered outdoor area is a great place to sit on a sunny day and there is still the wood burner and couches to settle in on a cold day.
The City Works Depot on Wellesley St has expanded recently with a whole bunch of great cafes and restaurants, but Shed Five was the first on the lot. While Best Ugly Bagels et al are definitely must-try, don't overlook Shed Five. Great food and coffee, and their tables out front give you a good view of the Vic Park area on a clear day.
Love the location, love the bikes and the overall environment is good. Changed recently and I think still getting its groove back - the 2nd outlet in Newmarket - York St is one of the best concept stores in Nz - combined with great food, wine and environment - oops meant to be talking about shed 5 in the city - persist they have been great they will be again - fab uncluttered location.
If you are looking for a place to check out classic Motorcycles and have a bite to eat this is your place! This cafe will not let you down. Rows and rows of motorcyclists dating back to the early 1900's as well as a room in the back where you can get up and personal with a few vintage vehicles. I can easily spend a few hours at Shed Five eating, sipping good coffee and fantasying about which bike I want.
