Chef Che Barrington is all about Asian fusion, with strong Thai influences to tease your taste buds with salty, sweet, hot and sour. MooChowChow is all about sharing and experiencing. The wine list is extensive and reasonable and the fresh fruit cocktails with crushed herbs are a delight.
Lunch is causal and relaxed. Dinner is busy, pumping and may mean sharing table space. Crampons are recommended to reach the dizzy heights of the upstairs bathroom. After several cocktails, how some make it down without just the aid of gravity is a miracle.

The perfect thai and western fusion. Try the Red curry of slow-cooked Beef Rib w/ lemongrass, peanuts, shallots or the Jasmine-Smoked Crispy Salmon, choko, crispy shallots & galangal dressing. The right side of spicy that will have you tingling. Lashings of Uni Eagle HOT chilli sauce will have beads of sweat gathering at the top of your forehead. A place to impress. Stunning menu. Beautiful staff. Gorgeous ambience.
Thai restaurants are a dime a dozen in Auckland city, but not all are created equal. There are some places where the food to go is impeccable but the interior not too salubrious, but at MooChowChow on Ponsonby Road you’ll find the perfect mix. The menu is a riot of flavours and the cocktail offering even more so, and the atmosphere on a Friday and Saturday night is always buzzing. Even if you just swing by for a drink there is a great bar menu too, although I reckon you will find it hard to leave.
