I havnt been to La Zeppa in a long time but last nights dinner there was pretty spot on! They have created a new Tapas menu and there is a fantastic new deck that has been built onto the restaurant. When Victoria Park finally opens im sure business will be booming here. On a Tuesday night the place was pretty dead and we seemed to be the only table there apart from a few couples. We basically shared the whole menu, the stand out dishes were the beef on mashed potatoes, chicken nibbles, seared tuna and mozzarella balls. The Calamari was ho hum as well as my halumi and roasted beetroot salad, the beetroot wasn't even roasted. So a few hits and misses but the desert was not a disappointment, that was the highlight of the evening. The wine was fabulous as was the service, but i do wish our empty Tapas plates were cleared a little faster. One word of warning, be very careful if parking on Drake st, one of our diners had their car broken into while it was still light out! will be back at La Zeppa for a wine on the deck when the sun decides to come out!
Awesome wine list. Great menu. Huge open-plan space, minimal and industrial/convent/warehouse-style decor. Cute bar staff. This place has all the right ingredients and delivers......nearly. Had a hard time here last visit. It was unreasonably slow service but wasn't full. However every other time I'be walked away very happy indeed. Will keep going back.
If it wasn't for the fact I was refused a drink after 5mins of being there, stone sober, due to laughing & dancing with my friends to the loud music playing, I would say this was a great place to start your evening. After a word with the duty manager who saw me arrive, I was allowed to buy myself a drink. So, don't be overly happy when you go there, or else they may presume you drunk! A little conservative but candle light, lots of seating, good tapas and lovely cocktails.
Compared to Sale Street, I prefer La Zeppa. La Zeppa is a popular venue for Finance, Law, Property and Advertising firm peeps. It's a huge venue but more often than not it's packed on a Friday night for the afterwork crew. The have a large extensive lists of wine and their tapas are the perfect accompaniment to munch on as you cut loose and get the weekend started. Their deck is so great for drinking and smoking in summer.
Neatly tucked away at the back of Victoria Park Market is La Zeppa. This is the quintessential professionals bar and most of its clientele are people out for after work drinks. La Zeppa has an absolutely astonishing list of wines and cocktails to go along with their aforementioned selection of Tapa style dishes. One of my favourite dish combinations is their goat cheeseballs and mixing with their lamb meatballs. The flavour is so great, and I have little to compare it to. La Zeppa's big atmosphere night is Friday night and it will be roaring from anywhere after 5pm.
One of those bars that I've often used to wind up for a big night out, a big restaurant/bar with a big atmosphere most nights, from the after work beers, to the pre-bash cocktails. There's also an excellent selection of Tapas to match. And the space itself is an awesome environment, with an expansive indoor bar and outdoor area, great for big groups.
