Gets a bit crowded here but the staff last weekend had a good system of only having a few people in the store at once. Yoghurt flavours were great (esp good was irish cream & choc malt but stay away from cherry-tasted very fake like the medicine you get when you were a kid), I couldn't believe the amount of toppings...condensed milk....all kinds of crushed biscuits.....lollies...heaps of sauces........just a tip- get the large bowl, you pay by weight so doesn't matter if you get a big bowl or small and you won't end up having to pile up the toppings and risk them falling off.
Who hasn't ever wanted to be the person that pulls down the lever and gets to swirl the ice cream cream into the cup? That's the magic of Kiwiyo! There are about 12 flavours which are all really interesting, and probably 100 toppings? Fruit, heaps of lollies, sprinkles, nuts, everything. The flavours are yoghurt based but don't taste like 'yoghurt' at all, which is actually good. Some are sugar free, most are low fat. And you pay by weight. Genius!
This place is definitely worth the trip to Mission Bay - I'd even say that if I was in Mission Bay, I'd prefer to go here over another pretty famous ice cream place in the area! They don't serve icecream as such, instead they have frozen yoghurts and soft serves in a variety of normal and not so normal flavours. Last time I was here they had root beer flavour! One of the best parts is that the screens above each flavour flash with the nutrition information, which is something I really appreciate as many places in New Zealand just assume you don't want to know this kind of stuff, or don't have it readily available. I love that you can mix and match flavours and the range of toppings is incredible! Almost anything you can think of! The paying system is pretty unique as well - they charge by weight, which is pretty awesome - and I think the prices are reasonable considering what you get! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone, and I can't wait to go back!
