Rip-off Merchants. Very Dodgy The worst delivery experience I have had in my life. Waited 2 hours for delivery. Was massively over-charged on the repeatedly quoted price. Had to argue over the price for 15 minutes, watching the food going cold. Ended up going hungry.. At 8pm I phoned and was told that delivery was free on orders $35 or more. I ordered 3 mains and 1 starter for a total price of $35 after giving my address again and confirming price. At 9:30 the restaurant phoned me and asked if I was going to pick up the order. I corrected them and again verified the price. At 9:40 the restaurant phoned again and asked for the address again. At 10:00 the food arrived and I was told the price was $46. The delivery person would not believe me as to the quoted price, until I produced recordings of the phone conversations proving what I was saying. After he had 2 lengthy phone conversations with his manager, I was reluctantly told that the price would be discounted to $35. I said no. That is no discount. That is the agreed upon price. A discount would be the $10 off that I then asked for. The manager refused this and took the the food back. As the manager seemed so dollar conscious, I do wonder who eventually got to eat that lukewarm, probably re-heated food?
Well, last night we was so hungry and after a long debate we went with Raviz. There is so many negitive comments about timing but i rung through at peek time and it was 40 minutes to my door. The delivery driver was friendly and the food was really tasty. we had the non veggie banquet and we got free delivery with that. It was spicy like we asked and still really hot in temperature. They have really shaken the quality up. Very very reccomended. The only thing they need to do is update the prices on their website!
"Commercial" (ie. creamy) Indian cuisine is pretty easy to find in Auckland, with most suburbs boasting at least one Indian restaurant. Ellerslie has two in its town centre, so locals are spoilt for choice. Raviz offers standard Indian fare done well ... the portions are generous, the sauces are always cooked to perfection, and the naan bread is excellent. The restaurant itself isn't the most atmospheric place, but they have some good weeknight dine-in specials, and the service is always friendly. One tip - seems they have only one phone line, which is also used for EFTPOS, so sometimes it's hard to make a phone-in order. If you live nearby, it's generally quicker to just go down, place your order in person and wait.
