Goat Island has some of the best sealife to see in New Zealand - and you don’t need to be a licensed scuba diver. Snorkel or scuba with some seriously big snapper, crayfish, blue cod, goatfish, piper, eagle rays, parore, red moki and much! All this marine life is protected - including the Kina (sea urchins) so don’t you pick anything up! Sad to think that this is what the world’s oceans was once like.

Lifetime experience

I have been diving with Goat Island Dive at least 3 times. Every time I received very professional care and service. Great centre to go diving with around the Hauraki Gulf. Highly recommended!

I would definitely recommend diving with Goat Island Dive and Snorkel. We recently did an amazing day of diving with these guys, and couldn't fault it. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a large mix of skill and ability from all the clients diving, but they catered to all our different needs from basic to professional. We went to Great Barrier and Little Barrier, and both were stunning. At Little Barrier we were lucky enough to have a friendly seal come dive with us- how wonderful! All in this beautiful scenery  and with rays, fish, crays, octopus etc etc. Then we were given a bbq of sausages, lots of cups of tea, and there is a light hot water shower on board which is nice as the weather gets cooler. Thanks!

The waters of the Goat Island Marine Reserve provide some of the best diving to be found off the coast of New Zealand. At Goat Island Dive and Snorkel you can enjoy the scenery both above and below the waterline.  They cater to all experience levels.  If its your first time with a snorkel in your mouth or a well traveled nitrox diver you will get your moneys worth here.  They will transport you to their favorite haunts and share what New Zealand has to offer with pristine aqua habitats and creatures you may not have even known existed.   Since the wildlife is protected in this reserve you never know what may catch your eye.   They offer equipment rentals if necessary, boat transportation, sightseeing trips for the not so keen of water, and even refresher courses for us who need to clean the dust off our BC's.  Call ahead to reserve your group's spot on the boat.
