Types of Thai Massage

1. Common Thai Massage
This is the main direction of massage, popular in the practice and training (especially for foreigners). The peculiarity of these type and subtypes is the more close contact with the patient during the massage by using thumbs, the surface of the palm and its base, the outer part of the wrists, elbows, forearms, knees and feet.
2. Royal Thai massage
The peculiarity of this type is that the masseur moves on his knees along the lying person constantly keeping one foot distance from the patient’s body and the patient never rests on his stomach. The therapist uses only his hands, mainly his thumbs, and sometimes the outer part of the wrist, touching the patient by only the working surface of hands. The massage starts from the knee and goes up to the legs, then to the feet. The streamer positions are not applied.
What should the patient and the therapist pay attention to:
Before the massage it is necessary to check the status of the patient.
Internal state: The therapist and the patient should be in a calm, relaxed state.
The therapist has to be constantly focused on the massage.
The patient should inform the therapist of any discomfort.
