The best are the opening hours. The two cafes in the close neighbourhood both already close at 4pm so I was very pleased to find the Dizengoff to be open until 5pm. Coffee was good and the slice of coconut bread tasted yummy. I didn’t enjoy the service and atmosphere – both came across as very cold.
Hit up Dizengoff for breakfast with friends on a recommendation. I don't really know Ponsonby but I'm glad we went here. Simple interiors with formica tables and a 50s fridge feel, friendly servers and a great range of cafe fare - really unique sandwiches and menu offerings. I had my regular eggs montreal - really good hollandaise, fresh serving bread, and amazing presentation! But sooo filling. Worth the $18.50, which is regular Ponsonby pricing anyway. My man had the most gorgeous looking chicken pasta, which was shared about and raved about. They also do really spicy chai. The only downside was how loud and cramped it was inside - could do with about four less tables, but hey, it obviously works for business; don't miss the neat Mark Reynolds art on the shelf.
A consistently excellent choice along the Ponsonby strip. The food - off the menu and from the cabinets - is always delicious, and the service is always really prompt and professional, albeit often run off their feet. Perhaps a little more variety on the menu at times would be nice, otherwise pretty much perfect.
There was certainly no shortage of people... it was packed! Lots of small tables. Not the most amazing atmosphere, or food. It was yummy, but not AMAZING for the price. I had heard a lot about the mushrooms (yes, yummy for sure!) and the big breakfasts. My partner had that and I had the Eggs Benedict with salmon and avacado. Could have done with a bit more salmon, and a bit less vinegar taste in the poached eggs, but still yummy. Not sure about the $85 price tag for the three of us- a meal and a drink each. Wouldn’t rush to go again, but still an enjoyable breakfast.
