21 Waiwera Road, Waiwera, Auckland 0950
(09) 427 8800
"The last time that I visited Waiwera was on a school trip and I got a blood nose from the black hole. Regardless it was a good time. Since then Waiwera has been through a little bit of a transformation. Over the years it has morphed into more of a health spa. For OSH reasons only two of the slides remain. It may have lost a bit of the fun factor but as an adult it's still a relaxing day away from the big smoke."
2 Matakana Valley Road, Matakana, Warkworth 0985

"What is not to love about a being able to go to what I think is Aucklands best foodie/farmers market and have your pooch babysat while you stroll around at your leisure trying out local delights "
"Worth the trip! I love going for day trips up to Matakana and Pakiri- so stopping in at the market to stock up on treats is a really great way to start the day."
"Start the day off right by browsing through the stalls at Matakana Village Farmers' Market and tasting all the delicious samples on offer for breakfast. The early bird catches the pastries, so arrive as early as possible to beat the crowds and reward yourself with a good strong coffee."
Boundary Road, Woodhill, Waimauku
Boundary Road, Woodhill Forest, Auckland
"This is a great place for mountain bikers of all abilities. Only a 40 min drive from central Auckland, you can bring your own bike or hire one. They supply helmuts too. I love cycling through the forest and find it fun and relaxing. After a good hard ride I like to have a Jesters Pie from Pie van or a hot chocolate at the cafe. The staff here are really nice and helpful too. A great place for the whole family."
142 Parkiri Road, Leigh, Warkworth 0985
(09) 422 6019
"Leigh is a great trip from Auckland on a summer day. Make sure you stop in at the Sawmill Cafe to grab a casual pizza, chips and of course a beer sampler. Their entire range is really good but the Wheat Beer is crisp and unique and the Pilsner is Gold medal winning! Once you’ve picked your favourite beer, step outside to the small building next door and fill your Flagon/Growler (or purchase one onsite) at the brewery - its always fresh and tastey!"
205 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland 1144

"Finally.... A bouquet of flowers from Wild Poppies Florist, Great North Road. The girls there will talk you through it and help you come up with something befitting your special night. If you don't get some after that then you must be in a coma!"
"I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my grandmum and she absolutely loved it. The flowers were so beautifully decorated that it made her day. She has also recommended Wild Poppies to her other friends."

""Water slides, pools, spa , bbq areas, icecream & coffee. Another FUN full day out for the whole famz""
"Great winter day out for the family. Kids happy on hydro slide. Adults happy lounging in hot pools. For a big group, you can rent a barbque for $15."
"Headed to Parakai with some friends after deciding we were in the mood for a change (we are Palm Springs loyalists). Steep cover charge ($20 + $4 locker + $5 for my share of $15 for a gas bottle for the BBQ) but worthwhile, we had an excellent time. The slides are thrilling, in a way that slides mostly aren't in this OSH-approved era we live in. The open air hot pool is righteous too. I have a few bumps and bruises today but I had a fabulous time."
Corner Saleyards & Puhoi Road, Puhoi, Auckland
"Just off the state highway this is a stop worth making. Old and classic tavern style pub with massive beer garden. Perfect to break the road trip and a surprise spot for a lunch date, great old fashioned fare at decent pricing."
2 Matakana Valley Road, Matakana, Auckland 0985
"Matakana Cinema has become quite the hive in recent years, and this 3-cinema complex screens a range of films to suit all ages and tastes. End up here when you're worn out from traipsing 'round the local weekend market or hitting the Pakiri surf."
"Puhoi Valley Cheese Co is such a lovely country drive and so easy to get to. We shared a plowman's platter and a cheese platter.. Yummy breads, cheeses, pate, and chutneys. The setting is lovely, the food great and after lunch we went for the wee walk around the lake. The returned to buy a Puhoi ice cream. After all that we stocked up on our fav cheeses ( free samples are plentiful), the 6 year old Parmesan and a brie. Great spot, good food, good service. A fab Sunday lunch spot!"
"I have tasted some great cheese from here and heard great reviews. Love to go here on my way north!"
155 Parkhurst Road, Parakai, Auckland
"I love this place. The hot pools are hot and relaxing and wonderful of course, but what makes this place stand out is when you enter the lobby and you're transported to another era. It's like the owners stopped caring in 1978, in a good way."
"This place is great. We went in the evening and it was not crowded. The changing sheds were clean and nice. Okay, the overall decor of the place is a bit run down and old, but it is quaint and doesn't matter. The important things are the changing sheds and the pools and they were great. There is a pool that is really hot and a cooler one, a kids' pool and a lovely spa behind a screen. We had a lovely time and stayed for hours - much longer than we intended."
