"Drive through the Domain, show them the Museum then head to the Winter Gardens to check out the rare flowers."
"I came here once on a date in a half hearted attempt to try and fake that I was cultural and intellectual. There ended up being an exhibition on about the ocean which in theory seems interesting but after seeing fish after fish which all look the same it is hard to keep your game face on. Despite this temporary lapse in keeping up my façade, I was thinking the entire time how it is such a great place to go on a date because there is always something to discuss with the exhibits around you if you get stuck for something to talk about. There are different exhibitions on all the time here, covering heaps of fun and fascinating themes. Extra points for boys if you bring her here at night to look at how it is lit up so beautifully."
"Mexicali is pretty much the best in general, and it’s my favourite guilt-free takeaways. You can pick and choose exactly what goes in your burritos, and they have a "naked" option if you’re carb-conscious."

"Love everything French? Yes! Well I like your style. There is nothing more enjoyable on a Saturday or Sunday morning than to purchase freshly baked aromatic bread, a serving of Paella (which doesn’t always make it all the way home!), a selection a delicious French cheeses from the La Cigale Fromagerie and a number of other fabulous products and produce which make their way into your market bag. Treat yourself to this French Market place!"
"Anything that involves cheese is good. When there is cheese on a date this is super good. These markets are amazing, there’s fresh food from sausages, vegetables, a special market café, bread…. everything that your average food addict loves. For me, as a carb lover, this place is heaven. It’s also nice to come here to pretend you are classy and swanky when really you are hungover from Friday or Saturday night antics and need to get some fresh air. Best not to be hungover for your market date though…. These markets are on Saturday and Sunday mornings so you’ve got enough time during the week to think up an elaborate date plan for after the markets to extend the amazingness of said date."

"This is definitely one of my favourite places in Auckland to get a sweet treat! Nothing better than a pretty little tart or cake, a cup of tea and a flick through the paper on a weekend afternoon."
"Everything is a pleasure to look at and even better to eat. Lots of exercise required after a visit here!"
"I discovered the Little & Friday cook book first and fell in love. So you can imagine how ecstatic I was to learn that they have an actual shop in Newmarket where you can buy all of the amazing desserts from the book ready-made! It was like Christmas, my birthday and Halloween (an excuse to dress up and eat candy until you feel sick? Yes please) had all come at once. Heaven!"

"Petal make the yummiest cupcakes. They are always so light and fluffy and the icing has so much flavour. Not to mention they’re absolutely gorgeous. I love that you can get little gift boxes, which turn your cupcake into the perfect little birthday present. Salted caramel, mango, chocolate and raspberry are all winners."

"Delicious pasta and pizzas at non solo. One of the best italian places around. Also tried the chocolate fondant cake with salted caramel ice cream which was perfect. Great customer service."

"Can’t stay away from the rum and raisin truffle, especially good if you wanted a hot drink with it to enjoy the views on the new deck out back."
"2nd best hot chocolate in Auckland - I love the italian denso but a word of caution.. it is quite strong and usually I can only finish about 3/4th. This stuff is pretty thick and very creamy, with rich dark chocolate. The cafe itself is very small so be prepared to wait for seats or get takeaway."

"If you’re looking to expand your palate, the Lumsden is definitely a must see (or taste)! They run several events on a regular basis where you can learn about and taste something new. They have a Craft beer and Bourbon tasting on the odd Monday night, run Meet the Brewer tap takeover events, taste ciders on Sundays and always have craft paddles on hand so you can try a variety of beers. Check it out!"
"If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere and good food, look no further than the Lumsden. It’s a great place for dinner on a weeknight. It doesn’t have a huge menu, but what they do serve is delicious - I’m a big fan of the fettuccini - and they have heaps of craft beers to try out, if you’re into that sort of thing. If it’s a bit busy and you end up sitting outside, fluffy blankets and big heaters will keep you toasty warm."

"We love trips to the Rialto cinema complex in Newmarket, where the selection of films is always impeccable and the snacks top notch. It is the perfect place to spend a rainy winter weekend in particular, tub of Kapiti ice cream and glass of pinot noir in hand."
"Rialto often shows films, both old and new, that you might not get the opportunity to see at other theatres. I recently went to see Casablanca, which was amazing on the big screen. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on their website for what’s coming up."

"I'm a regular at Archies these days - making the most of the $14 lunch special. The pizza's a hand made and indulgently delicious! There's great outdoor seating either undercover or in the sunshine. The service is quick and the quality is always to the highest standard. If you're in Newmarket at lunch time, Archies is a great place to stop in! Spend your afternoon relaxing in the sun, or pop in during your lunch break. You won't be disapointed!"
"This place is great to come with your family as the service is extremely friendly and the pizza/pasta options are elaborate enough to cater to all likes. I came here one afternoon with my family for a catch up as my sister heard this place was really good. I have to say, I agree. I took about half an hour to decide on what I wanted from the menu as everything looked so good, and I finally decided upon the Pollo e Pesto i.e. chicken, pesto, pine nuts, mozzarella and zucchini.Of everyone’s meals I especially liked what my mum got, the penne pollo fumigato which was smoked chicken cooked in white wine, fresh herbs and garlic with a creamy mushroom sauce. 5/5 food and 5/5 service."

"Ah, the tried and true. Can’t say I have met a person that doesn’t like Renkon and the Parnell store is the perfect one to meet up with those friends who work around the city and don’t have all that long for a lunch break because it is cheap, delicious, quick, filling AND healthy. I am a huge fan of Japanese food so to find somewhere that fits all of the above categories was great, let alone trying to find any food place like that in general in Auckland. My heart lies with the karaage chicken. It is fried chicken with rice and veges and it tastes like upper class KFC, and I like to pretend I am fancy. I don’t think you could go wrong with this place, I will fight you if you think otherwise."
"Renkon is probably my absolute favourite Japanese restaurant, in fact I would eat it a few times of week if I could. You can’t go past teriyaki tofu, it is so freaking good, it’s actually now the only thing I order. The ultimate question; what do they do to get that amazing crunchy coating??"
