"After living in London I finally understood why the English love their pubs so much. This place really is like a proper English pub. They even brew their own beer!"

"Located on Shortland St in Auckland's CBD, Cargo Coffee is the perfect antidote when you're stuck in the city but need a dose of sun. Enjoy your coffee in the courtyard next to the shipping container 'shop' or run it back to the office.. if you must."

"Came here searching for grape juice and was out of luck but the server was so amazingly sweet and helpful that I had to recommend them regardless! If you are a drinker, this is your artisan bottle shop."
" Looking for that perfect wine for a special occasion? Or even just a casual bottle? This is the place to go. Ask your main guy Bill and he will sort you out! He knows everything about wine from the back of his hand and he is super friendly (and bilingual!). You might be lucky and meet his sweet, child-friendly dog DJ too! This store has a vast range of wines, whiskeys, beers you name it. It also has that winery atmosphere too."

"Quite impressed at how many coffee machines and burr grinders were available to train on… You can also be trained on your own machine at their showroom or they’ll come to you! We weren’t getting much use out of our machine until we went on the home barista course… It sure is getting well used now!"
"Don't be put off by the packeting, Nadin is seriously good at putting together coffee blends for you to try at home"
22A Cross Street, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010
"Little B is a quiet presence on Cross St but has remained a favourite for the smooth, malty coffee that they serve. It is a small space with plenty of personality from the large mural on one wall to the pallet crate shelving. There is also a selection of counter food and Cross St is a peaceful alternative to K'Rd for sitting outside and enjoying a bite to eat."
"Great coffee and food. A small roasting company whom do it well. Well worth seeking these guys out for a long black"

"Three Beans Coffee Roasters in CityWorks can't be missed. Let your nose take you there by way of aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans. You can watch them roasting while you enjoy your fix and maybe a light snack. Grab a bag of beans or fresh grinds to take away. They also supply a number of cafes around Auckland and beyond with blends such as Raging Rhino and Gangster Rabbit. Yeeha!!"
"It’s tucked away, it’s a hidden gem - there are a range of coffee making methods to sample, and a range of roasts too. You can watch the beans being roasted whilst you sip - the staff are friendly & the coffee is delicious"

"Went here to pick up coffee with the family and my husband looked at all the coffee machines trying to pick which one he wanted!!! The shop assistant tried to help him plead his case on the price and function of all the machines! Very good sales pitch, he ended up getting one and was very happy"
Shop 11, Elliott Stables, 41 Elliott Street, Auckland Central, Auckland
"We went along last night for our first ever 'Whisky Tasting' having picked up a deal on Grabone. New to whisky, we have been blindly buying based on either what the bottle looks like, what the pocket can handle or what duty-free tasting was had. It was time to change. On arrival we were given our first tasting - a New Zealand blend from the remnants of the Wilson's distillery. The reception was warm and helpful. The tables were laid out with 5 tasting glasses, bread and olive oil, pens and pads and water jugs. We were taken through a short history and necessary information for any future whisky connoisseur. The whisky's were great, and were matched with food - sushi and cheese'n'crackers. A fine night and I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about this amazing drop. "
"Went to a Wednesday night tasting event here (check their website for dates), began the evening as an absolute novice and left having a small idea about how whisky is made, the various places it is distilled and how that might affect the smell and flavour. So now I know a little! Well enough that I could now look for and buy a whisky I would like! I had a lot of fun, and the staff were lovely, friendly and not intimitading at all. Its not just an event for blokes although the ladies were a little outnumbered. Would definitely go again."

"Probably the largest Glengarry in Auckland, the Victoria Park store has a great selection of wine etc., and the staff are friendly and knowledgable. Right next to Dida's too, so you can pick up some antipasto to enjoy with that bottle of Italian red."
"For all those uncles you haven’t seen in a year, distant cousins and for that emergency gift you need on hand to avoid awkward moments when someone you hadn’t expected to see shows up, with a pressy. Aged whiskeys, Christmas champagne, Marlbourough Pinots, craft beers, dessert wines - done, easy #crowdpleasers."
