Have always walked past Yuzu but never been in until this week when a colleague and I were strolling up the road looking for a healthy lunch. From the moment I walked in I knew we we’d found a great Japanese restaurant in Ponsonby. $13 lunch special for my friend and a $15 fresh sashimi donburi for me. Talk about brain food on a budget!

    Great Japanese cuisine, super fresh and the staff are so friendly.

      I’m a big fan of Japanese and Yuzu do Japanese well. The staff is always friendly, in fact when I walked through the kitchen to the bathroom all of the chefs turned round smiled and said hi. We ordered a bridge to share which is a selection of sashimi, sushi, chicken and tempura served on a bridge like structure. Everything on the platter was tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed the plethora of flavours. I'm pretty sure I've 'loved' Yuzu before but this place definitely deserves a second round of loving!

        What a lovely little restaurant. The staff here were just so friendly and accommodating. The food also hit the spot nicely   

          This is possibly the worst photo I’ve ever uploaded but due to the dim lighting it was the best I could manage. Yuzu falls into the category of not quite fine dining, but better than Renkon! Start with edamame and some Japanese dumplings. Then move on to some spicy pork or the karaage chicken. Both of them are delicious. Compliment the meal with some sake and you’re set for a good time.

            Yuzu is great for its delicious food, friendly service and cheap prices. One of the best dishes is the Eggplant salad and the Agedashi Tofu.

              I love this place. Really reasonably priced and the food is delicious. The teriaki tofu is fantastic, I have it every time. Nice cosy restaurant. Small and intimate.

                Yuzu does the BEST teriake tofu ever! I have made friends try it when they have never liked tofu before and they were instantly hooked - it is creamy, full of flavour, fresh and has a good balance of veges. Other meals there are great too including the reasonably priced takeaway sushi  and the amazing potato and cream cheese balls they do. Jane (the manager) is always really nice and looks after her locals. 

                  Went along on a whim after work today.  Fancied a bit food and a beer to catch up with the wife and we both very pleasantly surprised. It was quiet when we arrived as we were the only people in there. The decor was nice and simple and the service was swift.  Above all the food was fantastic and it was a really great experience. We will definitely be going back again.
