Phoenix is great, particularly the pork belly bites!!

Having a busy restaurant with patrons bursting at the seams during mid-week is a sure sign of popularity and a jovial wait crew was the final lure that pulled me in. A perfectly cooked steak washed down with a Pepperjack Shiraz confirmed this is as a very cool place to eat and drink.

This restaurant - again on The Strand in Tauranga - is taking out fifth spot on one dish alone - their $15 Thursday night chicken burger. It’s served with a few fries and some tomato sauce but the burger could easily stand alone. It’s a good ‘chick size’ meal filled with a generous amount of grilled chicken (which isn’t dry at all) some yummy sauces and enough salad to make you feel better about your food choice. The special gourmet burger menu also includes cute pork sliders which I haven’t tasted but have seen demolished by other women.

The food, service, music

This is actually a friend’s recommendation but she visited this restaurant on The Strand for lunch recently and told me… the food was good and there was something for everyone. The prices were reasonable and the service was great. It was sunny so they sat outside. While seated at the table they selected, a staff member came and asked if they would prefer a sunny table, out of the wind, and showed them where to sit for that.

You can always trust a Monteiths Beer Bar, and The Phoenix is no exception. This place brings new, fresh ideas to Tauranga with an excellent menu, designer cocktails, craft beers and smashing service. Get in there now!

This is where we like to head for an afternoon wine with the girls. It has excellent tapas. We love snacking and chatting.
