The Tiramisu desert pancake,.. Devine! Their apple pies are the best apple pies I've had in years! This is going to be my new Saturday cafe!

Im a lover for dutch food!! The peanut satay sauce is the best. Cant go wrong with savoury pancakes for dinner. Lovely owners too

When I heard about The Dutch Delight, an authentic Dutch pancake house, in Birkenhead it sounded like the perfect day mission. The cafe/diner was a slice of Holland in the the Auckland suburbia. The decor was authentic, down to the porcelain windmill salt and pepper shaker. The cheerful (Dutch) staff were very helpful in choosing dishes. We opted for fries with Dutch mayo and a tiramisu pancake. They were both great, if anything just a tad rich. The place is worth the visit for the experience alone though.

All my friends know I am the pancake queen so when a mate of mine suggested going to Dutch Delight for a treat, I was all of a quiver. The up to our visit was my friends ice-cream sundae that was so elaborate she didn't want to ruin it by tucking in. The low of our Dutch Delight experience? My pancake. :( It was rubbery and tasteless. Sad face. I will go back to try them again but I was disappointed as a huge lover of these wonderful desserts.

They've got some great Dutch specialities on the menu. The owner and chef is warm and friendly and gave us some helpful advice. We ordered goulash Kroket and the Bitterballen platter with a variety of Dutch delights on it. They are a BYO restaurant so we had a nice bottle of wine to go with it all. Lovely atmosphere and decor and there's a little deli next door with lots of interesting Dutch branded goodies. Try this place next time you pass by...it's a little gem that's sure to please!

Went for Lunch today at Dutch Delight as I had purchased a voucher from one of the daily deal sites. I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived which is always a good sign, but the staff, a Dutch couple, were still attentive and friendly. I had the Goulask Kroket for a starter which was great, and then I had the Shoarma Pancake as a main which was with Pork, Apple and Tomato. It was delicious and even though I went for the small option I was still too full for dessert, which was a shame because the desserts looked amazing! Oh well, just means I will have to go back there again, its a hard life!

I had the pleasure of going to Dutch Delight today when a friend took me for lunch. I am not Dutch and have not had Dutch food before (other than licorice and cheese!) so I didn’t know what to expect! I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in a little cafe with GORGEOUS decor, friendly staff and every variation of pancake I could’ve thought of! I had a lunch pancake, it was delicious!

This is the only place in Auckland I know of where you can get poffertjes. They're mini doughnuts served with ice-cream and cream...so decadent and definitely a once in a blue moon treat, but absolutely delicious! I haven't been there in a couple of years, but they're definitely worth a visit if only for the novelty of ordering from a menu almost entirely consisting of pancakes!

You can't go past the fries with peanut sauce and mayo at this place - sooo good! The pancakes range in large to ginormous, you definitely won't come out hungry. I also recommend the traditional hot chocolates, though be wary of the 'special' hot chocolate, I swear mine was half spirit! Was alright after I got some extra milk to water it down a bit... Don't miss the live music nights when a live piano-accordion adds even more character and ambience. The place is as authentically Dutch as they come, and if just being at the restaurant isn't enough, you can always pick up a souvenir or three from their mini Dutch grocery selection on your way out.

Dutch Delight - in Greenhithe and Birkenhead- is an Amsterdam pancake restaurant that would make any visiting Dutch feel right at home. It is a character-rich restaurant filled to the brim with Dutch ornaments and pottery including the ubiquitous clogs and windmills.  And the food? Reasonable priced hearty fare of large pancakes with a fantastic range of toppings. Try shwarma lamb or minced beef or chicken pancakes. Follow up with a sweet pancake for dessert. They are priced around $17 or so each.  The Birkenhead Dutch Delight even has a kids room.  Dine out soon. At the low prices, your date won't need to go Dutch!
