What a fabulous culinary journey through gastronomic New Zealand. We arrived and were warmly welcomed into this very comfortable stylish setting. The 9 course degustation started with an amuse bushe which gave the first inkling of the delights we were in for. Each course was truly Kiwi inspired... from the Waikenae crab, King Salmon, paua and smoked eel to the lamb which I swear was a miniature hangi on the plate..... well done Mr Meredith. You are true to your reputation as a New Zealand gastronome. Superb food, wine, service and a truly New Zealand inspired adventure in taste.
Meredith's is my favoured restaurant for spoiling myself. The degustation menus are enlightening and the service is always of a high standard. The atmosphere is low key and comfortable which allows the food to play the star role. The slow poached egg dish is always a favourite and the desserts are incredibly crafted.
The charming and very talented Michael Meredith created magic in the kitchen at The Grove before opening his own restaurant, Meredith’s (pictured), a hit from the day it opened its doors. Located at 365 Dominion Road, (definitely not the ‘posh’ end), the small but perfectly formed restaurant seats a maximum of 40 people in three intimate dining rooms (bookings are essential). On Friday and Saturday evenings you will be indulged with the nine-course degustation menu, with wine matches if you choose. Other evenings and Friday lunch offer either a six or eight course tasting menu or the nine-course degustation.
