I came to Bona Pizza with my two girlfriends one night before heading out because they both love the place. Upon seeing it had colourful fairy lights splayed across the store front I was already sold. It is a small and humble restaurant with only a small number of tables but it suits it perfectly. It is byo which made my experience even better, but I was impressed by their pizzas. We ordered the Ponsonby VIP Grande and the Al Pollo Affumicato. Simply delicious. The first pizza had tomato sauce, cheese, chicken, eggplant and sundried tomatos and artichokes while the second had tomato sauce, cheese, smoked chicken, green peppercorns, capsicum, parmesan cheese and sweet chilli sauce. I had never seen pizzas with such ingredients in my many years of pizza trialling so this was a pleasant and delicious surprise. HIGHLY recommended. Also the owner is SO sweet, such a lovely woman.

Great food, amazing lunch specials, good coffee, friendly service! Amazing place - I will definitely come here again!

Great lunch specials, delicious food and friendly staff!!

The pizzas are great and staff are lovely.

The Bono pizza is great and the staff are so lovely

I love coming here on a date, as the food is delish, the service is so friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is lively....I love sitting outside with my partner, enjoying the food and watching the world go by....

I had tried a slice of pizza at the Ponsonby market day before and a friend had raved about their good food. However, I have to admit that these high expectations weren't really met. Maybe we just didn't have the right choices, but I was neither too excited about the pizza nor the lasagna which we tried. And I was personally disappointed not to find gnocchi on the menu. I'll still go back and try something else. If not for the food, for the uber-friendly service.

This place is just amazing.  Small in size but the food is great.  Location is good... lots of off-street parking.  Usually parkings are free... customer service is great here... didn't have to wait too long for the order.  This place always seems to be busy... so booking in advance recommended!

I had a voucher for this place for two people.  Went here for dinner, this place was packed.  The size is small but the service is just amazing.  Loved this place.  Meals were very nice and tasty... eventhough they were very busy we didn't have wait too long which was great.  Highly recommended :)

So got a Groupon deal for Bona Pizza $39 for two entrees, two mains and two desserts. Chip as chips so who could complain right? The purpose of these kinda deals is for them to get returning customers (because they'd probably make all of $1 serving us all that food for $39).  However, I would not go back. The service was great, the atmosphere was nice and cosy (cept don't sit close to the door cos everyone comes in and out and the door doesn't close automatically so my poor friend had to keep getting up and closing it), and food was ok. The food filled a gap but the best part about it was it byo and my girlfriend and I could have a good catch up while feeding ourselves. We both ordered the squid salad for entree, a pizza for main and tiramisu for dessert. The squid was more asian tasting with a soya-sauce like taste to it -with a bit too much dried herbs sprinkled all over. Not really italian i didn't feel -atleast a good old reliable crispy salt n pepper squid would have been nice. The pizza didn't have any real stand out flavours. A shame because I was so excited for my eggplant and artichoke pizza, but it did not compare to others I have had - it was pretty bland. The tiramisu was ok, but nothing to draw you to Bona Pizza because you "just have to have some of their amazing tiramisu". So bit of a shame overall, but as I said -for the voucher price it was totally worth it. Lucky they have regular loyal customers because I would go to one of the many other italian places in Auckland in future. Sorry Bona Pizza!
