This theatre is ALWAYS clean and tidy. Toilets are immaculate! Staff are amazing. Great service even when busy. The host some amazing events and all seats have a great view.

Save the date Dad! Because the incredibly sharped witted and outlandish Bill Bailey is back for two shows at the ASB Theatre. The gap between how we imagine our lives to be and how they really are is the subject of Bill’s new show, ‘Limboland’. With his trademark intelligence and sharp wit, he tells tales of finding himself in this halfway place. From his countless global travels, he recounts the hilarious saga of a disastrous family trip to Norway to see the Northern Lights. He rails against a world that doesn’t match up to our expectations and contemplates the true nature of happiness. And no Bill Bailey show would be complete without music, so Bill gives us his version of the protest song, a heart-rending country and western ballad played on a bible, as well as a fabulously downbeat version of Happy Birthday. We urge you not to miss your chance to see one of comedy’s true original minds in action, returning to New Zealand after his sold out tour in 2012. Tickets range from $79 - $89 from Ticketmaster, the first night has sold out so get in quick for night number two! http://www.ticketmaster.co.nz/Bill-Bailey-tickets/artist/1021758

The NBR New Zealand Opera opens its 2013 season with Madame Butterfly, one of the most popular of all operas. Puccini’s masterpiece is a tender love story of longing and betrayal. “Cio-Cio San and Lieutenant Pinkerton are among the world’s most-loved operatic couples, and with the electrifying combination of Australian soprano Antoinette Halloran and Italian tenor Piero Pretti in these roles, this beautiful, tragic love story will be taken to another level.” WHEN: Thursday 18 - Sunday 28 April COST: Varies, buy through The Edge.

We came here to the the NZ Royal Ballet perform Cinderella.  It's a lovely modern theatre.  There's a great cafe/bar outside with an extensive undercover area as well as some indoor seating.  During the interval they opened the inside counter which was reminiscent of a fast food joint - multiple long queues at multiple tills.  We ignored them and went outside to the main counter and got served much quicker.  Lovely and airy indoors with posh but limited seating.  The theatre itself was great, limited legroom being the only gripe. Toilets seemed to be scarce?  The signposted ones were down a ridiculously long and steep staircase and way too small to accomodate that size of audience.  In the second interval, some women took over the gents and were shuttling ladies and girls in and out.  Fair enough I say.  There were presumably facilities on the other side of the theatre, but unless they were three times the size, they would also be too small. Parking at the Civic underground carpark was easy and convenient - a flat weekend rate of $8 and you can pre-pay when you arrive to save queueing later. *free water by the main cafe counter outside.  Help yourself.
