"Have you ever solved a problem by inventing something useful? MOTAT’S September Holiday Experience will help you do just that! Invention Nation will guide kids through the five stages of inventing; from the Idea, Design, Prototype, Testing, to Refining. Find information about famous Kiwi inventors, our latest Exhibition - Welcome to the Machine - plus design your own contraption in your very own Invention Journal! Each activity will have your brain buzzing and your creative juices flowing. Kids will get the chance to: Sort It: you’re starving but sand has gotten into your only food. What invention will best sort out your food from the sand? Bridge It: you’re stranded and need to get to the other side, but there’s no way across. Can you invent a bridge to get you there? Launch It: invent a launcher to fight through the targets! Grab It: there’s dangerous toxic acid. Grab it and move it out of harm’s way. PLUS, using the classic tradition of the Rube Goldberg machine, help us build a massive marble moving machine! Construct your tile and then add it to the wall to expand the machine. Be sure to keep checking throughout the holidays to see how the machine is growing. With plenty of challenges that will light up your imagination, MOTAT is the place to be these school holidays! Dates: 27 September – 12 October 2014 from 10am – 5.00pm daily Cost: $40 Family Pass (2 adults, 4 children) $16 Adults $8 Students with ID/children 5-16yrs Free children under 5 and SuperGold Card Holders"

"Love everything French? Yes! Well I like your style. There is nothing more enjoyable on a Saturday or Sunday morning than to purchase freshly baked aromatic bread, a serving of Paella (which doesn’t always make it all the way home!), a selection a delicious French cheeses from the La Cigale Fromagerie and a number of other fabulous products and produce which make their way into your market bag. Treat yourself to this French Market place!"

"I hear it's amazing. My friends visited last weekend, and they had so much fun... I'm definitely gona try it."
"Great chance to get your kids on the snow and try it out. For kids who can already ski it is a fun time. Dress up really warm as it is very very cold. They have morning and afternoon sessions in the school holidays. They take all school age kids and then 5-16 years to learn and progress in the separated into groups depending on their age, skill level and choice of skiing (from 5 years old) or snowboarding (from 8 years old) and then offer them tuition."

"School holiday treat. Kicking myself I have never taken the kids before. Great fun for the whole day. Loads of places if you want to picnic. Staff really lovely. Be best not to go in the school holidays if you don't want to queue but nobody was complaining. Better for kids over 130 cm high so they can go on all of the rides."

"I went to see the Hunt (a Danish film about a man who is wrongfully accused of being a pedophile) in the weekend at the Capitol cinema on Dominion Road. The cinema is beautiful but the movie was dark and haunting. The movie left me feeling a little icky so I headed along to the Event Cinemas in St Lukes for a slightly lighter experience. This time we opted for Baz Luhrmann's 'The Great Gatsby' which was a style over substance, fun adaptation of the book. The cinema was hooching due to it being deal night ($11 for a ticket, $15 if it's in 3D) and the smell of buttery popcorn was in the air. The staff were all professional and the seats, which i guess are a big part of the movie, comfy. If you're not looking for a gourmet, art house experience and are happy to enjoy a big Hollywood blockbuster and slurp on a frozen Coke this is the place for you."
"Nothing beats a good old horror film on the big screen, in a big dark room with your friend sitting next to you screaming at every little sudden movement. When you are looking for a bit of an addrenline rush and you think you can handle of few nights of scary dreams, I’d grab a group of friends and head to the cinemas. Oooooh and on the way home a drive around some abandoned houses is always good."

"and the sky tower is tied for my first-favourite place to view it from -- sharing the #1 spot with Mt. Eden, of course. The elevator ride up is fun (well, not if you're afraid of heights...), the plexiglass floor sections are trippy, and the view is just gorgeous. I've been multiple times, and recommend going around twilight so you can see the city in the sunlight, and as the lights go on :] "
"The iconic Sky Tower is in the heart of Auckland City and has always been a part of our lives living in Auckland. From having dinners with family to clubbing out with friends Sky Tower is always something I remember when I think of Auckland and feel nostalgic when i see pictured of it when i travel out. #Blackmores"

"If you missed the first lunar eclipse this year you're in luck! There's a second chance to watch the Moon disappear in the night sky and this one is perfectly timed for the school holidays! Come along to Stardome and see a short show to learn more about eclipses and then take a look through the telescopes. Gaze up at the dark sky above Maungakiekie and watch as the Moon slowly disappears from view, high in the night sky. Because this eclipse takes place close to midnight, the Moon is near its highest point in the sky, so obstructions like trees and buildings shouldn't interfere with the view. It's a strange and spectacular phenomenon to watch. Shows start at 8.30pm and run every 25 minutes. This event is dependent on good weather, so keep your fingers crossed! $2 donation per person. Lunar Eclipse Details 8 October Penumbral Eclipse begins - 9.17pm Partial Eclipse begins - 10.18pm Full Eclipse begins - 11.27pm Maximum Eclipse - 11.55pm 9 October Full Eclipse ends - 12.22am Partial Eclipse ends - 1.32am Penumbral Eclipse ends - 2.32am"

"A nice shopping centre and also a great cinemas- for some movie glamour. Only bean bag place left on Hoyts in Auckland, I think! Must go again since Wairau has stopped doing them! Have only been here once but was a great movie and good service as always. Worth the stop by!"
"The screens are big and the seats are comfy. Can't go wrong... Plus love going a little early and playing a few games... and maybe a bite to eat..."

"Pack a picnic lunch and take it to the Auckland Domain. Sit among the daffodils and enjoy the romantic, spectacular view of Auckland Harbour from the Domain. It really is one of the best places to see the city from. Enjoy a stroll around the beautiful expansive grounds or bring your bike. There’s plenty of space for walking and cycling too. Bring it on spring! "
