- 41uBike Cycle HireNelsonGet on your bike from UBike and head east out of town along the Maitai River. It’s a gorgeous ride that winds along the river. In the autumn, the leaves are awesome colours, and you can go a long way into the countryside.

Best craft beer bars in Nelson Tasman
- 17The Free HouseNelsonTrue to it’s name, ‘The Freehouse’ has an extensive selection of craft beer, as it isn’t tied to a brewery. Ironically, it’s an old church, with a yurt out front that often hosts live music events. I especially like to bring guests here to have a beer at sunset - the sun pours into the courtyard. It’s neighbourly enough that you can even bring kids - they have toys. Something really cool, is that they allow you to order food from the Indian across the road, or even better, Stefano’s Pizzeria will deliver. Staff at The Freehouse might even give you plates with knives and forks with which to eat your Indian!
- 28Founders is an essential stop for any hop-loving visitor to Nelson. Enjoy a great selection of local brews on tap and soak up the region’s history - the bar is set in a historical village.
- 31Golden Bear is a true beer lovers / brewers paradise in the seaside village of Mapua. They too have an enormous selection on tap and delicious Mexican food (great combo)! They have regular entertainment too - you’ll never want to leave!
- 41If you like to enjoy a decent selection of tap beers amidst a leafy, green environment, this is the place for an afternoon just outside Nelson/Richmond. A great place to bring a group of friends (the place is very spacious). Staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is laid back.
- 53Sprig & Fern BreweryRichmondSprig & Fern on Milton Street is an award-winning Nelson favourite with a great selection of Sprig & Fern favourites. Their Milton Street venue has a great, neighbourhood atmosphere. Order a gourmet burger or 1st class fish and chips from Milton Street Fish & Chips next door and you’re set for the evening.

Best Affordable Eats
- 19This place changed my definition of vegetarian restaurants! The food is great, the staff friendly, and atmosphere buzzes with locals and visitors alike. They also do great local beer and wine. What more can I say, except that you may want to get in early (before the locals)!
- 29Nicola's CantinaNelsonDelicious fresh and tasty Mexican food with super friendly staff at lunchtime. If you want their food in the evening, go to their ‘hole in the wall’ on Hardy Street (next to Bike Barn Nelson) for a burrito on a Friday night. Best value for money in town!
- 312Stefano's PizzeriaNelsonStefano’s is a favourite for most Nelson folks on their way to a movie or something else. The pizza is authentic Italian, thin-crust - truly delicious. It’s usually bustling, especially weekend evenings. A great place for adults and kids alike.
- 42Little India Nelson LtdNelsonThe best Indian food in Nelson. The deck out back is a great place for a meal whilst watching the sun go down.
