" Seriously, in the age of e-books and other medium - this Library rocks. Great staff, with many extra services. Did I say helpful, friendly and wonderful staff? You get the picture. Go get a library card if you don't have one! And next door is the CAB if you need to ask any questions, or need a J.P. "
" Friendly and helpful staff. The library is nice and big and always seems to have plenty of staff. there's a great little kids section at the backdesigned perfectly for littlies and the big floor cushions are a great welcoming touch. There's good reading space along the windows opposite the sprawling counter (near the magazines) and plenty of table space for homework. Internet access is free upstairs with ID - the staff will hook you up. LOVE the library :)"

"Lopdell House Gallery in Titirangi Village is Waitakere’s regional art gallery. It is home to constantly changing, unique contemporary exhibitions and also a great gift shop selling rare and unusual art books, ceramics and more."
" Make & Cake Beauty Creams workshop. Angela knows her stuff when it comes to making her own beauty creams. We got to make a lovely lemon and rose cream which I'm using every day and thoroughly enjoying. We also made a body butter with some mango butter in it - yummee! (it smells good enough to eat) I'm loving using this one too."

"Sometimes this library is painful that it's so near the mall, but other times it's quite handy. I like it for all its nooks and crannies and the fact the children's section has its own area. The magazines area is good too - separated from the rest of the library - and there's a nice little seating section that doesn't get too crowded. The A-Z fiction layout is stupidly easy to follow as it rings the outside walls, but it can be a bit of an "excuse me", "excuse me" situation when there are a few of you looking at the same time. One of my faves though."
" Thought I'd pop by here the other week when I was out at St Lukes. Surprised to find its a really small library. The selection of books is small, and the books don't seem to be in any particular layout order, so took me a while to figure out where some of my favourite authors might be. On the bright side at least the librarians were friendly and helpful. "

"look at what we have ..... we have in support of bird reascue a device that will possibly stop birds being injured ."
" I have taken birds here over the years and have always been impressed with Lyn's knowledge and dedication. More recently we spoke to her for advice about one of our chooks and we really appreciated this. She does such fantastic work and deserves to be supported more. If you can give, please do! "
" Numerous times we have taken injured birds out and dropped them off to Bird Rescue. This amazing place functions on a voluntary basis so any donation you feel you can make while you are there will be put to good use on medication and bird feed etc. It would be a sad day if Auckland was to loose this very worthwhile cause!"
Endeavour Street, Blockhouse Bay, Auckland 0600
" A nice wee bay for picnics. The playground is good for kids and has a variety of things for children to play on- the most popular being the huge covered in slide down the hill... There's a beach with sand and you can even swim here. We love all the walks.. over the hill along to Green Bay.. down the cliffs to the beach up & down squillions of steps.. a great walk. Nice little homely bay 'in the Bay'."

"This Salvation Army store is a reasonable size and has a good range of items - furniture, books, clothing, crockery, music etc. They are normally fairly cheaply priced. Like any op shop, it's worth searching as you never know what you may find. From time to time, I've even seen a selection of wedding dresses. Good for finding dress ups."
" The Salvation Army are the only place some people have to turn to in their time of need. They are always there, always available to help. Its a fantastic service so very much needed in our society. I always try to donate good items to the Sallies to help those less fortunate than myself. A worthy necessary cause, you never know we all might need them one day. So please try to donate at their next collection."

" We changed doctors after struggling to get appointments and some so so advice. This centre is excellent. Nice receptionists and efficient nurses. There are several doctors each with their own style. There are books in the waiting room for the kidlets and once you register it is well priced!"
Portage Road, Green Bay, Auckland 0604
"I love walking down here and finding a little pocket to sit while my partner fishes off the beach. Not that we've ever caught anything. There's often little pockets for more privacy although its usually fairly quiet anyway. The best part is the walks. Up and down squillions of steps and tracks makes for a really good workout. I usually can't walk for a few days after.. that must be good for me.... Now all we need is summer."

"Communities are about people . . . and if we want a great community . . . we, the people, need to contribute to make them great! I had an opportunity to make such a contribution recently when I helped out with the New Lynn Rotary's service project, building vegetable gardens for New Lynn Primary School. Not only was this a fantastic thing to be involved with, with all the 'feel good' factors of doing something worthwhile - but it was also great fun! Help came from all directions: from Rotary Club members young and old, and their friends & families; from the school community; from local businesses like Placemakers New Lynn; even from contestants of this year's Miss World NZ pageant! Everyone enjoyed the day, and the opportunity to "give back" for a worthwhile community project. I look forward to next time!"
" Such a great group of people doing great things in our community. My husband and I joined Rotary New Lynn earlier this year and were made extremely welcome. It's great to be part of such a positive group of people. Lots of opportunities for friendship and business networking, but also we're so thrilled to have the chance to 'give back' to the community, to New Zealand, and Internationally through the various service projects that Rotary is involved in.
