"There’s always something interesting to see at the Wellington City Gallery, with its impeccable range of revolving exhibitions. Over the past few years, some of my favourites have been Yayoi Kusama, Simon Starling and Seung Yul Oh, but I’ve also enjoyed the pieces I haven’t gone there specifically to see – and that’s part of the joy of the City Gallery. You don’t always know what you’re in for, but sometimes the surprises are the most memorable pieces of all. I like to pop in for a Supreme coffee at Nikau cafe before venturing up to the second floor."

"It took me a few trips to navigate the shop, but I’ve learnt it’s best to clear a couple of hours before heading into David & White. There’s no order to the place, and therein lies its appeal. Records and books and clothes and other oddities spill from every angle, leaving only a thin path connecting the four rooms. The owner has a surprisingly thorough knowledge of what’s in the store, and he always seems happy to help hunt for something. It's easy to be overwhelmed at first, but once you've found your bearings, and you've managed to maneuver yourself so as to avoid knocking things over, it's a wonderful place to kill time."
"There is nothing like digging through the many marvelous mounds of yet-to-be-found treasures in the David N White gallery to pass a few free hours in the Cuba part of town."
" On first glance, The David N White Gallery just looks like a junk store. Look a little closer and you'll release you came this close to drifting past a treasure trove of curios from the past. Of particular interest is the bins of vinyl records. I have no idea where they keep finding this stuff, but if you're interested in rare or obscure albums and singles, you might just find a few here. Remarkable!"

"A incredible space where you can create, rehearse, practice and exhibit art. It is Wellington's artistic hub. They hold regular exhibitions and a great community to meet other artists. "
25 Tinakori Road, Thorndon, Wellington
"With an interesting mix of history and idolatry, we presume that by preserving a writer’s birthplace we can learn more about their life and their work-- but it is often a formula that works. Katherine Mansfield’s family home on Taranaki St. doesn’t deviate from what you would expect from a birthplace museum, providing extensive information on her life with friendly staff eager to guide you on your visit. If you have the time, stay for the 50 min film upstairs, and certainly give the children’s bedroom upstairs a gander."

"Looking for zines? Art? Jewelry? A new brooch? Matchbox has a little bit of everything, and soon they’ll have even more. Currently expanding to a Cuba St. storefront, this tiny shop was my best kept secret, tucked away up a flight of red stairs except on Friday nights, when they venture down to the Left Bank’s Night Market. Go for gift ideas your friends will actually like (bright totes, funky tea towels, zines) or to find what you’re craving (eyeball brooches, brass bunny rings, more zines)."

"Popped into Exhibitions Gallery of Fine Art today after not being in there for some months. Love how often the change the work around. The giant 3-year-in-the-making piece on London is amazing! If I win the lotto I'd be there tomorrow to pick it up haha."

"The Michael Fowler Centre in Civic Square is not only one of Wellington’s most unique-looking buildings, for all that bright metal, but it’s a pretty swanky concert hall. With wide staircases, plush carpeting, and orchestra seating, you’ll feel inclined to wear a ball gown even when you’re going to see Garbage."
