"You will see plenty of gannet birds during summer like in the picture and stunning view from top of the clive."
" This is a fantastic west coast beach....black as coal sand, awesome scenery and great surfing. My partner and I went for a horse trek with AboutRiding.co.nz on this beach they took us through the forest and we waded along a river, saw seals and had a fantastic time, definitly a great way to capture some some of Aucklands west coast essence. "Got our two awesome water bottles today. Awesome story too, didn’t realise all profits went to harvesting projects in Uganda!"
Karekare Road, Karekare, Auckland 0772
"This is my personal choice for west coast beaches since it is flat, friendly and not dangerous like neighbouring Piha. In fact I will never understand why people risk their lives and those of their kids at Piha when 10 minutes before is the turn off to Karekare. Karekare is so good for picnics and swimming. Perfect for mall children without the risk of rip like its neighbour. Grab a picnic, the kids and a blanket - this is where summer is!!"
" My partner and I went to this beach yesterday as inspired by the lyrics of a Crowded House song. It did not disappoint! There's the beach, tidepooling/rock hopping, fishing, a waterfall, and gorgeous views. Plus, it was not overrun by people. I would suggest being careful on the road there, as it's very narrow and people aren't quite as careful as they should be, and bring gum boots if you have them, because you do need to cross a stream (though you can rock hop one part). "
" I think it is really beautiful out at KareKare. Although it may not be the most amazing swim ever, its definitely good for surfing. And you'll always have peace of mind knowing that KareKare has an amazing Surf Life Saving Team. Yes the walk to the beach itself is kinda long, but its well worth when your on the beach. "

" A small library, but worth checking out. Decent car parking available- though I remember the signs were a bit confusing. Average range but still worth a look. Good to know there is this available if you are out this way and want something worthwhile to do. Helpful staff members"

" i swim out here most days in summer and the lifeguards are great- always on patrol and watching. the cafe and restaurant is also very good quality, and a great place to meet with friends. overall, the lifeguards do a great job"
" during the last few weeks of what we could call a season i injured myself out at piha and within about 2 minutes we had the guards all around me, we hadnt even called for help, they have great scanning on this beach and i now feel much safer out there in the water, i was in their clubhouse and it is a great looking facility, definately leading the way."

"Communities are about people . . . and if we want a great community . . . we, the people, need to contribute to make them great! I had an opportunity to make such a contribution recently when I helped out with the New Lynn Rotary's service project, building vegetable gardens for New Lynn Primary School. Not only was this a fantastic thing to be involved with, with all the 'feel good' factors of doing something worthwhile - but it was also great fun! Help came from all directions: from Rotary Club members young and old, and their friends & families; from the school community; from local businesses like Placemakers New Lynn; even from contestants of this year's Miss World NZ pageant! Everyone enjoyed the day, and the opportunity to "give back" for a worthwhile community project. I look forward to next time!"
" Such a great group of people doing great things in our community. My husband and I joined Rotary New Lynn earlier this year and were made extremely welcome. It's great to be part of such a positive group of people. Lots of opportunities for friendship and business networking, but also we're so thrilled to have the chance to 'give back' to the community, to New Zealand, and Internationally through the various service projects that Rotary is involved in. "Awesome place - this is where I had my wedding! It has a huge kitchen and area to set up your buffet and a stage (though we didn't use the stage) its there to be used! Seating enough to cater to to about 185 odd ppl and plenty of space for decor and moving around, handy toilets and great lighting! wooden floors was fantastic, convenient and no hassles at all! There was even space up front to be used as a dance floor!"
