Caffeine addict's paradise
- 18Federal Store CafeNew Plymouth CentralThe Federal store is a hive of activity. They serve local Ozone coffee here, and it is always made to perfection. The style of the cafe really makes it stand out- it is a mix of cool 1950s Americana and kitsch Kiwi retro- even the staff uniforms are super cute! There is always a mouth watering layout of food and cakes, as well as an open kitchen if you want to order off the menu. And- trust me- everything tastes as good as it looks!
- 28Ozone Coffee RoastersNew Plymouth CentralThe Ozone beanstore is definitely the place for the coffee connoisseur. They roast their beans out the back, meaning they literally live and breathe coffee. Their espresso is perfetto, but if you are feeling adventurous they have many other coffee making methods available, including Chemex, Swiss gold, Hario and more. If you are feeling extra adventurous you can try one of their limited release single origin beans. Not a coffee fan? There’s always chai, hot chocolate or a good ol’ cuppa tea! They have a small selection of cabinet food available, but really the focus here is on coffee. One of the best things about the beanstore is you can bring your own food- so if you are desperate for a coffee fix with your home made lunch, you are welcome to use their microwave or sandwich press. The decor at the Beanstore, a converted warehouse, is industrial cool with concrete and giant tables. There is a fabulous outdoor area which is sunny and sheltered from the wind. If you are serious about coffee, then Beanstore should be your new home.
- 38Petit ParisNew Plymouth CentralBienvenue! Petit Paris is New Plymouth’s little slice of Paris, a Francophile’s paradise. Owned and operated by French natives, this place is excellente! The locally roasted Ozone coffee is consistently excellent, and the breads and pastries here are to die for. A great place to pop into in the morning to have a cappuccino and a croissant to start your day. You can sit in the window and people watch, or chat to any of the friendly staff.
- 43Cafe Govett BrewsterNew Plymouth CentralA great atmosphere, great friendly staff, great food, and great coffee, Cafe Govett Brewster is an all round great place! The Ozone coffee here is consistently delightful, and the cafe is a great place to sit inside or outside, alone or with friends and watch the world go by. The cabinet is always full of succulent salads, sandwiches and mouthwatering cakes, or if you want the best cooked breakfast in town, then this is the place to come. Attached to the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, which is sadly closed due to earthquake restrengthening and construction of the Len Lye Centre, there is a definite artistic vibe here, with a fantastic wall mural by local artist Josh Manu currently on display. For the coffee addict, Cafe Govett-Brewster will not disappoint!
- 52Baked on CarringtonNew Plymouth CentralThis is the cutest little slice of kiwiana in suburban New Plymouth, with great coffee to boot. Nestled in a group of shops on Carrington Street, Baked on Carrington is only open during the week and is the perfect place to pop into on your way to work, or when you need a mid afternoon caffeine and cake fix. Yes… Cake… To die for! Baked on Carrington only serve the freshest and most delicious local Ozone coffee, which is made to perfection by their skilled barista. I love this place so much… I just wish it was open on the weekends!
