Need some help deciding what to do with the kids over the school holidays? There's tones of stuff to do locally – we've selected three fun outings to get your started.
Skip the malls and take the kids out to a well-established traditional market. Silverdale market is a local favourite, with bargains on fruit and veg, freshly baked bread, babywear, kids' clothes, toys and more. The market is held every Saturday from 8am – 1pm at the Silverdale Hall, only 10 minutes north of Albany.
Want to be parent of the year? Take your teenyboppers to Megazone in Wairau Valley. It’s the largest laser tag arena on the North Shore, with an awesome maze and three large party rooms. There are different game themes to choose from, including vampires, star troopers and pirates – awesome!
Although it still has some way to go before it’s complete, the revamp of Sanders Reserve in Paremoremo has opened up a whole new family destination on the Shore. New features include a visitors' centre and a gently sloping kiddies’ bike track. There are also some tougher tracks for grownups.
