"Always popular with tasty Japanese style tapas and 1,000ml cans of Asahi to enjoy! Scotch fillet steak with butter and soy sauce = amazing."
183 Symonds Street, Newton, Auckland
"Bian sushi on Symonds St is a regular lunch stop for me being just around the corner from my shop Gorgeous Creatures. It is truly the freshest and tastiest sushi I have ever had (and has totally ruined me because now I won't eat sushi anywhere else). The fillings are very generous and the one with the little salmon eggs on top is one of my favourites followed closely by the spicy chicken with coriander. And that onion sauce they have by the counter is a must try - great on tuna."
116 Quay Street, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010
"The large shared plates at Ebisu are top notch. High quality materials and loving preparation makes for a delcious and healthy feed for a group."
"A place suited to groups... loud.. bustling, busy and very much alive. ( surprised to see a DJ playing music while we dined). Huge choices of everything Japanese. Exceptional quality. Our group of 10 chose the set menu $70 pp. Not disappointed.. superb meat dishes, many courses, many varieties all with excellent service. Not a place for the hard of hearing or wanting a quiet dinner in any shape or form. Reminds me of the kind of place I loved when in my 20's/30's and when our objective was fun over food. Wonder if being a Friday night in the Britmart area made it the boisterous place it is. Perhaps dinner other nights is more subdued? Overall nice for a change, good food, lively and fun but perhaps if a conversation is wanted a better choice could be made . PS: Don't park next door in the Britomart carpark my night cost $50 in parking alone."

"How can you resist? Delicious good that is always light but worth the taste and flavours. Quaint little place which makes you feel like your living in Japan."

"Nishiki was the port of call before a night out in Ponsonby and our friend arranged for us all to come here beforehand to eat and drink before heading out as it is BYO. It is always quite fun ordering from here, everything is very cheap and you choose a whole bunch of little things to eat at one time. A must get is the chips with maple syrup - sounds so weird and that is what I thought but it is SO yum. We got so many dishes I can hardly remember most of them but I do remember there was nothing I did not enjoy. So we ended up getting quite drunk and gave the waiters some grief with our drunken antics and we have been too scared to return since. Hopefully by now they have forgotten our faces. Definitely one of my favourite Japanese restaurants."

"Ah, the tried and true. Can’t say I have met a person that doesn’t like Renkon and the Parnell store is the perfect one to meet up with those friends who work around the city and don’t have all that long for a lunch break because it is cheap, delicious, quick, filling AND healthy. I am a huge fan of Japanese food so to find somewhere that fits all of the above categories was great, let alone trying to find any food place like that in general in Auckland. My heart lies with the karaage chicken. It is fried chicken with rice and veges and it tastes like upper class KFC, and I like to pretend I am fancy. I don’t think you could go wrong with this place, I will fight you if you think otherwise."
"Renkon is probably my absolute favourite Japanese restaurant, in fact I would eat it a few times of week if I could. You can’t go past teriyaki tofu, it is so freaking good, it’s actually now the only thing I order. The ultimate question; what do they do to get that amazing crunchy coating??"
104D Customs Street West, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010
"A favourite lunch spot when eating out with others downtown. A great combination of good, food, good variety and impressive presentation"
Shop 8-583 Dominion Road, Mount Eden, Auckland 1041
"The cuisine here is outstanding. The quality is of that of soto in ponsonby. Service is better. I will not be going anywhere else. Service is friendly and warming. The best part is the price amazing"
"On Dominion road, opposite Drum city great Japanese at cheap prices. worth booking on a Friday or Saturday as it gets busy. Really child freindly too!"

"Take a walk down Queen Street and step down the stairs to this delightful restaurant. You will immediately feel secluded from the rest of the World. The food is fantastic - we chose a selection of small plate items which were delicious; from the scallops to pork belly, stuffed mushrooms, tiger prawns and tofu salad - there’s something for everyone!"
"I like to come here when in Auckland for business, as its got a cosy atmosphere, especially in the cave. The staff are always friendly, and the beer is good (Gisborne Gold by the bottle!) fried octopus balls are a favourite."
258 Karangahape Road, Auckland Central, Auckland
"A couple of friends and I accidentally went to this place looking for another restaurant. We were highly impressed by the presentation and quality of the sushi for the low price. Lucky mistake! "
"The food is delicious and reasonably priced and the service is wonderful. By far my favourite sushi place in Auckland - so much so that I still go there even after moving to the other side of town!"
"Proactive service, they will ask if you want them to make you anything missing from sushi display. They have a small Vietnamese menu if you feel like a change. The sushi is fresh and interesting and caters for the economical to the aficionados. Eat in or takeaway. It's a treat to have a local eatery that's customer service forward and encourages great repeat custom and enjoyment of the experience. Might have to have a b'day function there if they cater for that. hehe"

"The popular Everybody’s in the Imperial Lane has had a bit of a makeover last Winter, turning officially Japanese under new moniker Everybody’s Izakaya. It is now serving up deliciously inspired food courtesy of head chef Nick Honeyman, and the menu will have you salivating from first read. The service is informal enough to relax you but just attentive enough to impress, and if you are on a first date the incredible cocktail list will most definitely help break the ice. The Autumn Elixir and Tokyo Serenity are two of my faves, or there is a huge sake list that includes a delicious sparkling option. Make sure to book if you want an upstairs booth."
"This is just next to The Roxy, it is a new establishment as well. By day this is an eatery with, by the way, the best Japanese in town. There is a vast indoor/outdoor area which in all covers quite a big expanse of space. It seems like these amazing places just popped up overnight and became wildly popular with everyone in town. By night, this place turns into a trendy place to have a dance and get a vino or 6. Great place to come for some after work drinks, especially if you are on the hunt for a rich boyfriend as this place to suited up to the nines. Handy tip for all the gold diggers out there."
10 Durham Street East, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010
"This dainty jap restaurant is always packed full of people and i certainly know why. They have fast service and great food at affordable prices. My donburi was really enjoyable, the crunchy crumbed pork with the sweet salty miso sauce was perfect. I would recommend going there either at round 11.30 or after 1.30 to avoid the crowd."

"This place is awesome. Perfect location for a quick feed out on K Road before heading into town for drinks with friends. Great vibe, reasonable price. "
