"For those lazy summer days, you can’t go wrong with a trip out to Hallertau. Huge plates of ribs, massive pots of mussels, and their beer tasting rack is awesome (although the Number 1 is the best). It’s newly renovated too, so it feels like you’re drinking directly under the brewing vats. Check it out!"

"Staff are awesome. The food is amazing and is a big hit if you like watching ducks chill out . Nice atmosphere and worth every cent"
"Gorgeous views, quiet spot and family friendly to with kids area in one of the carriages. Great for business catch ups, brunch out with friends or lunch with the family too"
"When I can be bothered heading out west for breakfast I like to head to Carriages. Located in the heart of the Kumeu Wine Country it’s a picturesque cafe dishing up some seriously tasty grab. The coffee is good and I would recommend the savoury hot cakes that is served with crispy bacon, raspberry compote, banana and lashings of maple syrup. The venue styled from a classic 1930’s European train station even has a train carriage that you can eat in!"

"Can’t wait to go back again! I love this place, the menu is really really interesting and varied and you’re bound to find something you haven’t tried before. The plates are smaller and made for sharing so you can try loads (which is kinda the idea). The wine list is nice and substantial so if you’re coming from the city you’ll need to sweet talk someone into sober driving or if you’re smart organise a group of 8 or more and they will pick you up in a courtesy van and drop you home later on."

"What a great cafe, how could I live in Auckland my whole life and not know about this place sooner! Yummy modern food in a lovely old building. Great service too. I want to go back for the Sunday Blues live music soon."
80 Candia Road, Swanson, Auckland 0614
"We went to Crystal Mountain specifically to see the animals. We pretty much had the park to ourselves - surprising for a Saturday - and happily wandered around, feeding and petting the llamas, deer, sheep etc. They were all were very happy to pose for photos with us, and we even got to see some newborn bunnies. If you’re even remotely an animal person this place is well worth a visit."
"Great place to grab a coffee and take the kids. You can pick up some really nice gifts for from the gift shop for the 'Mrs' or special lady in your life."
"This is a fascinating place to take the kids. With a petting zoo of farm animals to pat, feed and ride, a train and a mini rollercoaster to enjoy, and gold to be panned for, there is still enough time to spend admiring the incredible array of crystals in the shop - after a visit underground down the elevator! A wonderful combination of fun and learning!"

"What a great way to end a morning visit to the NEW Hobsonville Point community. Catalina Cafe is a bright and cheerful cafe that serves delicious home made brunches and lunches with a delectable array of sweet treats, cakes, scones to tempt you and even ice-cream cones for the kids. They have an amazing selection of cakes, wraps, sandwiches, pizzas and they even cater for folk who are gluten intolerant. You won't be able to resist the al fresco dining with live music, a place to rest while the kids play. They've even got a cosy, dining-room/lounge inside, perfect for those that prefer their tea in comfort. Catalina is right next door to the Hobsonville Point Farmers Market and a short drive to Auckland's newest wharf and ferry service. "

"I make special trips out to Westgate just for this store. There is such a huge variety of hand made goods, from food to jewellery to soaps. Its great to spend a lot of time and really explore each aisle, there is so much to see! My favourites are the hand made soaps and candles and I love picking up a home baked treat as well. It’s also lovely to feel like you are supporting small New Zealand businesses!"
"So many wonderfully talented people have stalls in Craft World. Even if you just go in for a look you’re likely to come out with something you just couldn’t walk away from. If you’re a crafty sort of person yourself, you’ll probably come out with all sorts of ideas of projects to to try yourself. Well worth a trip."
