Le Bop is partner dancing for adults. It is one of the easiest partner dances to learn, and the best part is you don’t even need to bring a partner with you! It is a street style; best described as a melting pot of hot moves from other dance styles like French Jive, Salsa and Lambada. Le Bop is a social dance, usually freestyled or danced ‘off the cuff’ to chart music. It has its roots in Melbourne and came to NZ early 2006. Latin Jive originated in France as a blend between the American GI's jitterbug and the smoother French rock and roll varieties. Over time it developed to encompass an eclectic mix of hot moves from Street Latin, Jive, Dirty Dancing and other styles. Le Bop has now diverged from all other dance styles and is a complete style in its own right. Set to today’s popular music as heard on commercial radio, Le Bop is an extremely popular and addictive dance style!
Classes are held every Wednesday at 7pm in the Mt Eden Village Centre and Thursday at 7.30pm at Dance Pro Studios in the city. So if you’re looking for a place to have fun, make new friends and get fit by accident, then get your dancing shoes on and head on down to Le Bop - you’ll love it!
