A little about us
In 2011 sushi master Yukio Ozeki and head chef Murray Wiblin joined forces to create Britomart eatery Ebisu - a modern take on the Japanese izakaya.
The duo's one-two punch of classic Japanese and European training result in Ebisu's mix of new-style sushi and sashimi as well as traditional Japanese dishes, all in the gorgeously slick surroundings of the high-stud dining room.
Grab some friends, order up a variety of tasty dishes to share, and wash it all down with some sake or shochu from their lengthy selection.

Modern style Japanese in a very elegant setting in Britomart. What's not to love!
Came here recently for a joint birthday dinner and it was the best decision that day. Nearly missed it due to the small hidden entrance but glad we did see it. We were lucky and got there before it got packed- which it did, as we continued our steady stream of dishes. It is a lovely neat, clean space and we were lucky to get a couch and small table near the windows by the water. Had a great waitress who helped us order, and kept drinks topped up consistently. Amazing service. We shared the Edamame which was a great starter before the beautiful platter of New Style Mixed Sashimi came out. It was beautiful and tasted amazing. The duck spring rolls went down great and the Crisp soft shell crab was very well done. Had to get dessert after reading the exceptional menu and chose the Yuzu Brulee which went down easily and too quickly. Would love to take another person here for dinner for an unforgettable, sensational gustation experience! (Please Localist!)
A place suited to groups... loud.. bustling, busy and very much alive. ( surprised to see a DJ playing music while we dined). Huge choices of everything Japanese. Exceptional quality. Our group of 10 chose the set menu $70 pp. Not disappointed.. superb meat dishes, many courses, many varieties all with excellent service. Not a place for the hard of hearing or wanting a quiet dinner in any shape or form. Reminds me of the kind of place I loved when in my 20's/30's and when our objective was fun over food. Wonder if being a Friday night in the Britmart area made it the boisterous place it is. Perhaps dinner other nights is more subdued? Overall nice for a change, good food, lively and fun but perhaps if a conversation is wanted a better choice could be made . PS: Don't park next door in the Britomart carpark my night cost $50 in parking alone.

Amazing Japanese food! great service. They only take bookings for large groups, pop in and ask for a table - if there is a waiting list out your name/number down then go next door to Tyler Street garage for a drinks. 5 mins walk to Vector Arena from here
