Wardy's is the talk of the town when it comes to pies. Everyone in Rawene knows the best ones are homemade by the quaint grocers. I love grabbing a pie and some organic fruit then sitting by the wharf to watch fishermen go about their business and old rural New Zealand doing its thing.

Wardy's is such a lovely local gem. They have a great range of cheap, organic veggies that look they're from your grandmother's garden. They're renown for their pies, pastries and treats. Last time I was there I got a steak pie which was deliciously tender on the inside all wrapped up in buttery flakey pastry - yum!

Because you can’t eat enough in one sitting to have your fill of these tasty pastries, pop back across the harbour on the ferry and collect some more to take home from the well-stocked freezer section. What could be better than whacking a couple of top-notch pies in the oven when you can’t be bothered cooking?

Wardy's is truly loving local! With fruit, veg, honey and more from local producers, as well as baked and frozen goods (those pies!), there's minimal guilt here about food miles.
