Located just off Karangahape Road is the Dogs Bollix, one of the city's premier music venues. A friendly pub, it is renowned for its great atmosphere and outstanding pub food as well as its eclectic weekly line up. The venue features live music at least six nights a week, and you never know what you might find on any given night.
I came here in the small amount of spare time after my cousin's wedding ceremony and before her reception. She had her wedding on St Patricks day and with my family being Irish we decided we wanted to celebrate St Patricks day with a drink at the Dogs Bollix. The bar was packed as you would expect on that day but we still managed to find a big enough table for our group of 12 people. We all stocked up on drinks and then watched the festivities of the friendly Irish patrons. While we were there they put on a show of Irish dancing for us, it is the most amazing dancing I've ever seen, the 2 guys and 1 lady were fantastic dancers and really made it a great unique experience.
This is a bit of a scoddy little bar where indie bands go and rock-out. I've been to a few mate's gigs here and it's always a fun night. Not exactly high class or chic like Britomart bars but takes you back to the time when cassettes and LPs ruled. Order a few pints of beers and soak up the atmosphere.
