Add Te Atatu Penninsula to the list of suburbs I’d never been to before today. However, I’d read good things about The Luscious Food Store so, on the way to the in-laws’ house, we thought we’d check it out. Arriving around half-ten, we found the place packed and bustling – first thoughts were that the place was very family friendly, with a huge outdoor play area, a sandpit and a very appetizing looking kids menu. And speaking of menus, what a menu! The Luscious Food Store’s menu was sublime – so many delicious-sounding meals with a large number of vegetarian options. I ordered the huevos rancheros (served with chilli black beans and garlic toasted sourdough) and my wife ordered the snapper hashcakes, served with poached eggs and tomato salsa. As well as the impressive menu, there was also a large range of counter food, including some delicious looking cakes and slices. We’ll definitely go out of our way to visit Luscious again – it totally deserves all the accolades it has received, and is certainly one of Auckland’s best cafes.

Superb :)

When we first walked in,  I was surprised at how empty it seemed, but that was because everybody was in the huge garden. The inside eating area is nice, with art on the walls and funky, lighting! Outside was a lovely garden including a concrete area with tables, a large grass area, with rugs to sit on and a sandpit to entertain the kids. The walls and fences around the garden were painted with blackboard paint where the customers had made the cafe their own with chalk. There was a live jazz duo in the garden which added to the already relaxed atmosphere. Some of the tables and chairs were starting to look a little tired but this was minor in the overall experience. The food was the best bit of the experience...a good choice of vegetarian items in the menu and amongst the counter food (however at first i didn't notice that some of the breakfast items were available past 12). My daughter had a great chocolate mini cake, which was rich in taste but light in texture. My wife and i shared a quinoa salad and some chickpea patties, both were luscious.... the patties came served on green beans with a delicious tomato relish and dollops of humous, each part tasted brilliantly and went together so well.. the quinoa salad included one of my favorite things...Roasted beetroot... Yum Yum!! Coffees were great, with a well drawn fern on the flat white....!

Firstly we were very impressed with the bike racks out front as we had ridden over from the city. The cafe boasts a lovely garden courtyard with cushions and blankets to sit on. We made the most of these as it was a lovely sunny days. It seems to be a very popular cafe and as a result our order took a little while to come out. Staff were friendly. Toilets were decent. I had tea and there was a large selection to choose from plus something from the chiller cabinet which was tasty too. We were quite happy to idle away nearly an hour and everyone seemed to be relaxed and enjoying themselves. In addition to the deli there was also a full menu available throughout the day. The cafe also seems to stock a variety of food products from other well known NZ artisans.

Sounds good :)

Lovely cafe with yummy food, great coffee, and a gorgeous wee outdoor area for kids to play while the 'mums' relax!  Love it.

Must see :)

Food was amazing and reasonably priced. Just be prepared to wait quite a while for your order to come out on busy days.

We love Luscious!  We lived on Te Atatu Peninsula for over a year and went to the cafe many, many times.  The food is interesting and delicious.  It's got an amazing outdoor play area for kids - it was always a pleasure to take my preschooler here.  My only complaint is that the food is on the expensive side, which meant that we could come less often than we'd like.  But overall the place is great and I had many lunches with friends here - meaning that I was happy to recommend it to people that I know.

Must try :)

Oh yes, the breakfasts here are great. It is a popular cafe so in the weekend it can be very busy! Especially in the mornings, but it is well worth it. A busy, warm atmosphere, and GREAT breakfasts. Luscious Food Store is a great place to meet- whether or not you live out West or in the inner city suburbs. And one of the best big breakfasts in town!

Super :)

Luscious Cafe is fairly new on the scene, but has quickly became known as a “must try” cafe, and once you go you will go back! It has a lot of parking, it is in the up-and-coming Te Atatu Peninsula, and has had rave reviews in nearly every Auckland newspaper magazine. It has a lot of organically sourced ingrediants, a fabulous selection of very delicious meals, great atmosphere and a huge out door area for kids! Popular with all ages, it is hip, comfortable with top food- a menu or deli options- and it is a top Auckland cafe for sure. Try it out!!!

Although the tag line says 'predominantly a food retailer' there actually isn't a lot that kind of thing to purchase there- rather it seems to be a great cafe with a stand of boutique grocery type items you can buy. We've been a few times now and its very family friendly (we have a boisterous 1 year old) with really yummy food and consistently good coffee.

Sounds great :)

One of my best friends lives in Muriwai so it's great to find a cafe out West that we can meet at. But although I chose it for the location, Luscious is an incredible cafe in it's own right. The food is amazing and the staff are really lovely.  They have a fully fenced seating area with a lawn and playground for kids - so it's a perfect place for kids to run wild safely while grown ups enjoy a great brunch. They have bread and other treats you can take home with you also.
