Team Gallagher Trans-Tasman Rowing Challenge

The Boat

The Team Gallagher boat is far removed from the traditional two-man or four man ocean rowing designs. The long, narrow hull with three rowing positions and chines mean it punches into head seas but also ensures it can surf down the long waves that roll across “the ditch” between Australia and New Zealand.

The 10.5m boat, designed and built by Aucklander Gordon Robinson was created for speed with an emphasis on safety. It can self-right from a capsize and take the worst the Tasman can throw at it.
