After a few days of wrangling and paperwork, Team Gallagher finally have possession of their boat, the Moana. It was unloaded today at Woolwich Dock and then transported by water to Noakes Boat and Shipyard at McMahons Point in Sydney and the team are busily getting it ready for launch.
Team leader Nigel Cherrie says they had to dismantle various parts of the boat for transport which all have to be put back.
"We've also picked up bits and pieces in Sydney that we weren't allowed to transport, such as the flares and fire extinguishers," says Nigel, calling whilst stuck in Sydney traffic.
"We also have to pack the food properly so I think we have at least three to four days work ahead of us. The weather for early next week is not looking too promising but the forecast changes on a daily basis so hopefully we will be on our way within a week."
As well as preparing the boat, the crew must still get themselves ready for the expedition, training regularly on ergometers and stocking up on Carbohydrates. Check out www.facebook.com/teamgallagher for more.
