It was a beautiful sight to see Team Gallagher after they rounded North Cape early yesterday morning. They had spent 49 days at sea and to see them swinging on the oars in good spirits on the homeward leg to Auckland ‘finally’ was inspiring!
After the traumatic seven weeks at sea the weather relented with gentle westerlies and negligible swell. TV3 cameras were rolling and the fellas obliged with some robust banter and even got dressed for the occasion. They did a nice piece last night here http://www.3news.co.nz/Land-in-sight-for-rowers/tabid/309/articleID/239301/Default.aspx
I’m now looking into organising customs to allow for Martin Berka to get off the boat for a pressing engagement. More on than in the next update.

Guys, amazing performance! But you are in good physical condition. You are probably happy that despite the difficult conditions - weather, technical problems - you did it great!
Just saw your TV3 clip - can't wait to be part of your welcome home committee. :)
