Not only is the coffee here to die for, but the Leeds street bakery (which sells out of the store) salted caramel cookies are insanely delicious. The staff are amazing, and know their coffee stuff without the pretentious vibe that often goes along with that. My go-to for a sit down coffee away from the hustle and bustle of Cuba street.

Best coffee in Wellington is a very contentious issue, full of opinions, these are mine. Full disclaimers would read that I work at peoples coffee in Newtown currently on a part time basis. But as coffee is something I’m pretty serious about, objectivity is always maintained.This list is in no particular order. One of my personal favourites is Red Rabbit Coffee Co down Leeds Street. With Steve putting out some incredibly great roasts and utilising all the coffee knowledge he has acquired over years of work. Their espresso machine looks like a space ship in a good way and produces some incredible shots, the food here from the attached bakery is fantastic and the filter coffee is super tasty as well. All their staff have in depth knowledge of the coffees they serve and it’s truly a place to go and geek out.

Down Leeds Street alongside the likes of Goldings, Pizza Pomodoro and the Wellington Chocolate Factory is Red Rabbit Coffee Co. An outstanding café with one of the best-looking espresso machines in NZ. Serving as the direct outlet for Leeds Street bakery next door, look out for a great coffee and food combo. Note, the salted caramel cookies here are particularly awesome!

Red Rabbit Coffee Co is one of the latest additions to the rapidly-expanding hub of trendy new eateries on Leed St. Adjoining to the Leeds St Bakery, it serves great coffee with delicious baked goods – enjoy a delicious salted caramel cookie or slice with your coffee, and take home a freshly-baked baguette for later.

Follow in Alice in Wonderlands shoes and down the rabbit hole you should go, or in this case Leeds St alleyway. Next to the wafting smells of Leeds St bakery lies this great coffee roaster. Lip smacking flat white and some Honduras beans to go for my V60 at home. Perfect.

Tucked away on Leeds Street (next to the Leeds Street bakery) you need to be in the know to find these guys - but it is well worth a trip. A good option is the Single Origin, always something new to try.
