Pukekura Park is by far the most popular, well known, and most beautiful park in Taranaki, many people out of town always have it on their to-do lists when visiting! It’s especially popular during early December and late February when the TSB Festival of Lights are on. It has a lovely little Tea House by the main lake where you can sample their famous creamy homemade fudge, and even buy a pack to take home to your locals! This is also a great place for a morning run if you can’t miss an exercise day!

Pukekura Park is a whopping 52 hectares right in the heart of New Plymouth that’s absolutely filled with exotics, natives, evergreen trees, and deciduous trees; it’s exploding with biodiversity! It’s been around since 1876; almost 140 years later and it’s still in top condition. The park is open 24/7 with no entry fee.

The Fernery display houses are just simply beautiful; all year round there is at least something blooming. It’s especially great in winter because it’s kept warm to hold the more tropical plants, so it’s like walking into a toasty warm conservatory. Make sure to take a camera as there are so many photo opportunities!

Pukekura Park has a nice little hill that overlooks the whole lake that is the perfect spot to throw down a rug, unpack a picnic, and enjoy each other’s company this Valentine’s Day. There is a seat provided but it’s so much nicer to kick off your jandals and relax on the warm grass with a nice home-made picnic!

I am loving Pukekura Park right now. It's totally the right time to go for a stroll or check out the nearby Zoo or Fernery; especially with this recent weather we've been having! Soon enough the festival of lights will be here and it will be even more beautiful in the dark!

Pukekura Park is by far the most popular park in New Plymouth. With the fernery and the tea house open for business, you can imagine why. The fernery consists of 3 levels of glass topped houses filled with the most beautiful flowers. It’s been the place I come to take flower photos for a few years now, and it’s always best in spring. It has indoor and outdoor plants that are native and from all over the world. The tea house café is just down a couple of sets of stairs from the fernery for a little morning tea or try some of their special fudge!

I think I've "loved" sooo many different places in New Plymouth and said we'd lucky to have such a great attraction... and I know I'm repeating myself, but this is ANOTHER one of those!! Such a beautiful asset. The Christmas lights are a must-do every year. #shoutme
