It is a rare gem to stumble upon the discovery of a local a modern-day restaurant that caters to the take-away customer with as much generosity and attention to detail as the wonderful ladies from Jordan, who run the Petra Shawarma Middle Eastern Restaurant on New North Road in Kingsland.  Their heart-felt passion for the cuisine native to their homelands is obvious and inspiring.  Every meal I have had prepared by the ladies working there has tasted fresh, nourishing and delicious.   I can't rate their restaurant highly enough.

Being there and experiencing the food and the style of little piece of Arabia is a pleasant experience I advise you to experience it.   Love chatting to the friendly staff who are actually from Jordan!

Petra Shawarma is awesome. I've only had the lamb shawarma and the falafel because... they're so good I can't bring myself to try any of the other probably-delicious things. Generous portions, the spices are strange to my palate but that makes things exciting.  The lady who owns and/or runs the place is a total sweetheart. She cares heaps about whether or not you enjoy your experience, so the service is great. And soon they're launching various hot teas, so she gave me a complimentary little cup of mint tea, which was delicious and I look forward to the cinnamon & nut tea she's promised will be available soon. YUM!

THE BEST MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD EVER, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I WILL BE GOING THERE ALL THE TIME. THE TASTE OF HOME! MADE WITH LOVE. FINLLY I FIND IT. LOTS OF LOVE FROM JUMANA TAMIMI

This place is the real deal. Fresh tasty and authentic, no need to add 101 sauces.  Good vegetarian choices too :)

Amazing food, everything is cooked from fresh. The staff are super friendly and helpful.  Petra Shawarma , is a great place to grab a quick takeaway or you can dine in.  This is the first time i have tasted food from Jordan, i certainly will be return to taste more of this tasty food.

An authentic delight. The meat is always tasty and moist. I love the bread they use for the wrap. I also like heir salad side dishes. Their famous fatoush is a mix of tomato, cucumber and fried bread bits, and the broad bean salad is a perfect accompaniment. The chicken onion roll is super yummy. My new favourite place in Kingsland for Middle Eastern food.

I honestly found this restaurant is the best place to eat mediterranean food . If you look for quality food, Petra Shawarma is your choice. I eat there at least 3 times a week, each meal is just more tasty than other.   Highly recommended and friendly people. Enjoy the wonder of food in Pertra Shawarma. .

We went to Petra Shawarma on a Friday night.  Although the cook was busy, she took the time to carefully explain the menu items to us and gave us a tasting dish of the Baba Ganoush, which was exceptional -- creamy and smoky.  She also explained the difference between the fried eggplant and baba ganoush options.  Our falafel salad was fresh and carefully prepared.  Instead of the usual iceberg lettuce with a bit of tomato and onion, the salad was several different types of crisp cabbage, small pieces of cucumber, pickle, and a light dressing.  The hummus was freshly prepared, sharp, and fluffy.  The falafel were very light and crisp, and green with herbs on the inside.  The falafel pita also came with a fresh salad and roasted eggplant.  Definitely a vast improvement on the kebabs you can usually get for this price $11-12).  The cafe is clean and pleasantly decorated, and homely to sit in.  They even have the latest magazines and newspapers to read while you wait.  A really pleasant surprise.

Wonderful service, choice of meat with fat or no fat.  Fast service which was very helpful during my short lunch break.
