Housed in the old Ponsonby fire station on its namesake Williamson Rd, the Williamson is a great place to kick back and get some 'housekeeping' done online. A place where the cheese scones ($3.50) are fresh-baked and in hot demand, the menu boasts an array of other baked treats, sandwiches and to-order fare. They also make a great coffee, and are licenced if you care to check your email with a glass of wine. Or a Bloody Mary.
Came to the upstairs venue for a 21st party- it was a nice place. Decent sized main room with a small bar near the staircase, small table in corner and doors to get out to the deck with wooden tables and stools. Very good location, pretty easy to spot & to get to. Good music system and nice decor. Would love to come back during the day to see the bottom
I am a big fan of the food here, having gone multiple times just to get a delicious BLAT or small roast beef sandwich and carrot cake as a quick takeaway. Their portion sizes of cabinet food are perfect for a medium appetite and very reasonably priced, and their menu portions are normally a bit bigger and also very good value for money. I love their breakfast salad! The only downside to this place is that when I first started going, the coffee was always bitter, however when I went about 3 weeks ago, this seems to have been remedied, so hopefully that continues. Great choice for lunch or brunch with friends.
The building itself is so quaint! Warm and cosy on the inside, we went upstairs to the function area as the main downstairs area was full, quite spacious upstairs and still cosy. The food was good and was good value for money too. Good staff, good service and the coffee was great. Will definitely be going back , very accommodating thanks guys!
This is a great little pit stop cafe for your caffeine fix! The service is super friendly and they have a great menu with lots of changing specials. Cabinet food is not bad either. And you cant go past their freshly made in house cheese scones - worth every calorie. And a bonus around the area is that parking is not a challenge either!
I love coming to the Williamson on a sunny day - with outdoor tables in the sun (umbrellas available on some), a smooth coffee and the great service levels of the staff, I think it is up there as one of the best brunch spots in Auckland. The staff really go out of their way to accommodate your requests and seem to care that you are having an enjoyable experience there - yes, all of them in my opinion. The breakfast menu is pretty extenstive (I love the creamy mushrooms on toast) but also check out the specials board, especially if you are there a little closer to lunch time. I haven't had a bad meal there yet and can highly recommend a visit.
