Situated a pleasant 15 minute drive from Whangarei city at Poroti, our nursery is surrounded by avocado and kiwifruit orchards, lifestyle blocks and dairy farms, on the slopes of Whatitiri Mountain. Historic stonewalls are a picturesque feature of our district.

Our aim is to offer plants in a relaxed garden setting – no pressure. Wear your gumboots, bring the kids, and wander round our vegetable garden.

We enjoy talking about gardens and gardening and are happy to share our knowledge built up over 45 years in the horticultural and agricultural industries. Hearing about our customers successes gives us great satisfaction.

Our main area of interest is edible and fruiting plants. We are keen food growers ourselves so enjoy offering the widest possible selection, from the everyday to the unusual and exotic.

Now spring is here it’s time to get cracking in the garden! Northland Plants have an amazing range of delicious edible plants that will flourish in all sorts of environments. I love how they focus on fruits and veges as that’s exactly the sort of stuff I like planting in my gardens.

    The vege garden beckons. It’s time to plant sweetcorn, beans and asparagus, and - the beacon of a nearing summer - sow your tomato seeds. Northland Plants, 15 minutes out of Whangarei, is a great place to arm yourself. The open-air gardens make a beautiful setting to wander around in, so take your time and get full advantage of the knowledgable staff. Opening hours are limited (Thurs-Sat), but it’s worth working around.
