Nestled in the West Lynn Shops, amongst the antique stores and specialist food shops you will find Monterey. With a focus on really good food, exceptional coffee and personable service, the cafe is a local favourite. Enjoy a flat white in the sunny courtyard or a plate of their famous zucchini fritters in their light filled interior.

In the evenings the cafe turns into an honest local eating house. From Wednesday to Saturday you are able to pop by the local favourite and enjoy something from the seasonally-changing menu. Think classic mussel fritters and sticky lamb ribs.

Last time I went to Monterey was awhile ago and I wanted to see if their cheese scones had stood the test of time and boy have they what. The touch of smoked paprika on the top of the crunchy, cheesy top sets this baby off perfectly. Make a special trip here just for the cheese scone. It’s worth it.

    Quite possibly the best cheese scones in all of Auckland, Monterey is the place I like to run and hide away from the world to pore over a good read, watch Grey Lynn go by and indulge in one of their doughy, gooey, cheesy beauties and a good strong coffee. Their lunch menu is also incredible and there's lots of locals who come here most days - so excellent is the food and coffee. And if you're a cheese scone aficiniado like me, make it number one on your fab local eats hit list cause it's well worth it.

      This place is awesome, my friend got me some sandwiches from Monterey, and it tasted SO GOOD. I'd definitely visit when I go to Grey Lynn next.

        Our favourite place for coffee and lunch after selling our organic fruit at the Grey Lynn Farmer's Market on Sunday mornings. We love the super friendly team at Monterey and the great food and the laid back environment.

                We love the laid back, almost retro vibe of Monterey in West Lynn, and their eggs bene selection is the best in the ‘hood. I go for roast tomatoes and watercress, but there also all manner of meaty options and some great sides!

                  Grab a lamington and coffee, bring your dog, admire the pastel decor.

                    I love Monterey Coffee Lounge. Since I first went there I cannot fault them. Brilliant coffee, incredibly tasty food, love the decor. It is all brilliant.
