Surrounded by native bush just a 10 minute stroll from the Maraetotara Road car park, the picturesque Maraetotara Falls are well worth a visit.
Close to the site of the historic Havelock North Power Station which opened in 1922 and ceased operation in 1941 when the generator was damaged by a lightning surge,the falls have a popular swimming hole at the base.
There is also the option to continue along a 20 minute walking track with great views of the stunning limestone landscape.
Certified self-contained campervans and motorhomes can camp on the reserve for a maximum of 2 nights.

A swimmable, jumpable, hidden oasis and just the right place to beat the heat. Peaceful Maraetotara Falls is a short shady 10 minute walk along a cascading stream from the carpark and a short drive from Havelock North. Of special interest is the limestone geology and remnants of the historic Havelock North hydro-electric power station, built in 1922.
